No WWT draftees this year??? Thats gotta be the first time in about 6 years no WWT players have been drafted

Macca - Even though the only new SA talent to be drafted to the AFL came from the Eagles, I think it is fair to say most of the better talented players are from interstate. Agreed, in the past they have swayed towards a local player if it is borderline.

I don't know much about the 3 Victorian players picked up - Bent Reilly (Wingman), Ben Finan (Utility) & Jason Shuback (half back flanker) - but the Crows were going for the best available talent. Seems like we picked up a good mix of players. Just need to put Jamar on the rookie list now.

BTW Macca, why did the Power draft yet another ruckman with its 1st pick. The rucking divison is probably your strongest area & I would have though you would have gone for anything else bar a ruckman (ie. quality midfielder, key forward or defender, etc). Maybe Chocko is planning to play a very tall side next year?? All rather wierd.

Hmm. I think given that, with the notable exception of Burton, they have mainly been crap a change in recruiting was in order.

Now we only recruit victorians

Well...considering at a stage this year we had Primus, Lade, French all injured and had to rely on Ackland and Brogan in a few games maybe he thought we need an extra just in case!

Considering all we drafted last year was midfielders, plus added Chris Hall from the rookie list we didnt need another one. A key defender would of been handy, but oh well.

Listened to a interview with Alan Stewart (scout), and he said the player they were after was Rick Ladsen (quality midfielder) but they werent expecting Barry Brooks still to be around, so they made a decision to go with him instead. Apparently he is veyr mobile, quick and plays like A Josh Fraser - ie. he can go up forward and play as a key forward.
So he is basically another Brendon Lade. Bsaically we only have three maybe four ruckmen....Ackland is being groomed as a forward, Morgan as a full back, and we might see Brooks as a forward too.

Macca - If some of these ruckman are groomed to be key defenders or forwards, wouldn't Stewart et al of been better off recruiting natural key position players. I don't think I have ever seen a side with so many ruckman (certainly Sheedy would jealous). Next you will be putting Jamar on your rookie list (but hopefully we beat you to him).

Jamar got a phone call today apparently, to train with the Crows.
If he's not picked up he could go on the rookie list.

I reckon Barry Brooks looks OK in the small bit of footage I have seen. But its hard to say...
