Off the top of my head i can only remember Jericho bagging 5 in West's upset win over Port at Alberton.

Torney played in the Eagles Bs but i didnt realise that, they fell away in the last term but not sure how Torney played.

By the looks of the SANFL stats in the Sunday mail yesterday we only had 6 players play in the league sides.

SANFL reserves

Jason Torney played for the WWT eagle’s reserves side and apparently got through uninjured.
Alan Obst was named in the CDFC reserves best players
Brad Sugars kicked 10 goals for the Glenelg FC reserves and was best on ground.
Tom Redden was named in the Glenelg FC reserves best player
No mention of Jonathon Griffin or Adrian Bonaddio

Sam Elliott had the buy with South Adelaide and did not play.

SANFL league

John Meesen 6 kicks, 5 marks 5 handballs 1 goal 6th best of Norwood
Bernie Vince 12 kicks 7 marks 12 handballs 1 goal 4th best for the Eagles
Hayden Skipworth 20 kicks 6 marks 7 handballs 2nd best for the Eagles
Luke Jericho 13 kicks 9 marks 2 handballs 5 goals 4 points 3rd best for West Adelaide
Jason Porplyzia 15 kicks 8 marks 10 handballs 2 goals 2nd best for West Adelaide
John Hinge 10 kicks 4 marks 7 handballs 5th best for Glenelg

Injured and did not play

Nathan Bock
Ben Hart
Scott Welsh
Ben Hudson
Ian Perrie
Darren Pfeiffer
Chad Gibson
Richard Douglas
Matthew Clarke

I hope that helps :thumbsu:

Vince was 3rd or 4th best for the Weagles, Porp 2nd best for Westies and Hinge 4th best for the Bays.

Damn, thats a great effort, even if it is reserves football ! Hopefully he can keep it up.

Good to see all the league players getting in the bests for their sides. :)
Skippy, Porps and Vince always pushing for selection but there's not a lot to change out of a 138 point win. :p

Considering he is only 187 cm and 81 kg it’s not like he would have been playing a key position.

Fine effort and one would imagine he would get the call up thee Glenelg league side this week.

I went to the eagles v north game. Bernie Vince played most of the game in the midfield and only went down forward a few times throughout the game. :thumbsu:

How did our boys go on the weekend?

Watched the Norwood vs Centrals game, purely to have a good look at Meesen. He was pretty good, but faded late and seemed to have difficulty making position on a number of occasions. Definitely has the skills by hand and foot, but just needs to work a little harder to run his opponent around.

As for Jessie Aish, other than the fact he looks and runs like his Dad, definitely has great potential as a HBF or HFF type position. Has good speed for a tall kid and moved well, but didn't see much of the ball. Fairly inauspicious debut from him, but that's to be expected in his first league game.:)

Mate, Meesen is one of the hardest working players you will find. It may not be picked up on camera but he's always leading and constantly running in order to gain possession. Through no fault of his own do plenty of his leads go unnoticed. He faded in the second half because he was stuck in the forward line and it rarely came down there. Hill made the mistake by leaving him down there and not putting him in the ruck where we needed him.

Didn't watch it on TV, saw the game live as South weren't playing on the weekend. I didn't say he didn't work hard, but he worked hard into the wrong spots on too many occasions and was often caught heading out to the flanks which made Norwood's forward movement very patchy on occasion. I was impressed with his ruckwork in general, but he definitely needs to add some beef to his legs or they will get pounded by a Hille, Lade, Cox, Charman or similar ruck type.

Overall impressions were very good, but still has a fair way to go, if he is to head Maric as the No.2 ruckman for next year. Has good clean hands when the ball comes in high, but Maric's work when the ball comes to ground, is better at this stage.

Laurance Angwin never kicked 10, unless your comment was in reference to Brent Williams who kicked 10 in a magoos game in 1996.

I’d like to know our forward entries in the last half, it would be very low. The delivery was awful, probably had something to do with the fact our key forward was dropped to the reserves. It was also one of the few times all year Meesen has spent quality time in the forward line. I genuinely believe Hill made a mistake not having him in the ruck for the second half, his ruckwork was extremely impressive and the midfielders were getting first use of the ball.
Maric's work when the ball comes to ground, is better at this stage.
What do you base that on, his tackling? Meesen’s a very strong tackler and will look to wrap up the opposition as soon as the ball hits the ground.
