In the wake of the Carey situation, do you think the latest unrest will have any effect for the coming season on:

1. Wayne.

2. The team.

I hope it makes Wayne more determined to prove himself as a football legend. I hope it has no effect on the team at all. But I fear that this will distract Wayne and make him an easier target (if that were possible) for opposition sledging.

Your thoughts?

I am hoping Trigg is right. I am hoping that the club is "closing ranks" over this issue. I am hoping they get a fair dose of a "we'll show them" attitude out of it.

Especially in regard to Akermanis.

Yes, I saw that too. He's a real pr!ck, isn't he?

From my experience of being involved in a sporting organisation in some ways, more often than not this sort of "incidents" bring the team closer together and makes the squad more close knit. Having watched Carey for a number of years I came to the conclusion that he is the one guy you don't want to sledge on the footy field. He seems to have that sort of ability to lift to another level if you try to put him off guard by sledging him.

I think in general it will make Wayne and the team more determined to prove the critics wrong and hopefully win a premiership:D

He was always going to cop the sledging - always!! This latest fiasco is merely proof that the Victorian media and supporters of certain teams are starting to come to the reality that Carey is back and looking good. They would love to bring him down because a fit and firing Carey increases Adelaide's chances for the flag dramatically. Carey answered this in the best way possible with his threat that any more such cr*p would attract legal action.

I agree with Stiffy. If anything I expect him to play even better as a result of all this and really stick it up the Melbourne media.

As for the team, I dont think they would give a rat's ass about the whole thing other than how good it will be to have a genuine spearhead up forward.

Indeed. I can recall many a game where the crowds were getting right stuck into him and he just played better and better. A lot of these were at football park unfortunately!

Re the sledging, whilst he's physically fit I hope that he is mentally fit enough to handle it. One positive sign is that he has handled himself extremely well given the media scrutiny he's been under. I mean he's just smiled for the cameras and said nothing. This is what he'll have to do on the field. Smile for the cameras, take crap from his opponents, say nothing and bow to the booing crowd as he bangs through the sealer.

I like the picture that you painted there mate.:D Let hope he starts that on Feb 22 at Footy Park.;) :) :D

That is the best way for him to answer his critics and anyone who has tried to bring about his downfall, bang through the sealer:)People are wooried thats the problem,he looks fitter and stronger than ever before his body is rested and they know he will be back with a vengance:) I hope he bangs throught the sealer in Brisbane in Rnd 9 straight over Akermanis's head:D What a ****er:mad: Enough said Carey will proove to everyone he is the best CHF every to play Aussie Rules:D The AFC dont go and get the best CHF unless they have one thing in mind The 2003 Premiership Cup:D

It depends on whether Carey is innocent or not as to whether this saga has a negative impact on the club and the player.

If there is remaining doubt then it may force him into recluse after one year with the Crows...thatd be tragic. Or it will be a spur to let his footy do the talking.

There will no doubt be a huge amount of sledging when the play does begin from toolheads like Akermanis the bloody pussball!!

I can see it know Carey cops 5 games for Improving Ikkymanis's Face

Although i'm inclined to go with the story put up by Carey & the AFC I think regardless whether Wayne has or hasn't dabbled once again with forbidden fruit his true professionalism & ego will be enough for Wayne to perform at the highest level that he can reach,

As for the rest of the team when the bounce of the ball starts in earnest this episode of daily life will soon pass them by, especially the young kids as there focus will be & should be on winning a spot in the starting 22 & winning as many games as possible & hopefully ending up with flag no3,
