Hi everyone,
Not sure if this deserves it's own thread, but I understand the Crows will wear black arm bands against Hawthorn in a mark of respect after the death of young Jack Klemich.
Jack's father has been a long time player sponsor at the Crows, whilst Phil Davis was also a very close friend of Jack's.

Seems to be a very nice touch by the club.

Was he the lad who died of meningococcal disease?

That's right. I knew Jack quite well and can tell you that everything they are saying about him is spot on. You'd never meet a nicer, more honest or thoroughly decent person. I can only hope my Son turns out as good as him. His death is a true tragedy.

Sorry to hear about your loss and the crows are doing a good thing in marking their respect. It's sad to hear about another 14 year old girl with it today.

Absolutely wonderful gesture by the AFC, makes you proud to be a supporter of the club.

This story is a tragedy and I feel so sorry for his family and friends. It’s hard to even comprehend how he could be playing footy with his mates one day and be fighting for his life the next. Just incredibly sad. :(

Great stuff from the AFC.

What a sad story Jack's death is .. so scary that he was playing footy on saturday afternoon then collapsed from a huge miagrane that night and died tuesday morning. Absolutely gutted for his family. :(

Yeh absolute tragedy.

As the OP said, such a nice genuine fella.

Although I didn't know him well, I met him a couple of times and we have a lot of mutual friends, and the effect it has had on everyone is absolutely beyond belief.

I just hope a positive comes out of it and the efforts are stepped up to make sure everyone recieves meninja vaccines before more of these instances happen.

It is a very nice touch by the club to pay their respects to a young life cut tragically short.

Most people at my high school were vaccinated against meningococcal disease back in 2001. It was not compulsory, so not all students were vaccinated.

It is a bit sad (and alarming) that the authorities are more concerned about the (swine) flu outbreak atm. The manufacturers of Tamiflu must be getting filthy rich out of all the hysteria.

Hello again everyone,
I hope I'm not over doing it, but I thought you might be interested in this.
As we know, the Crows wore the black armbands in honour of Jack Klemich on the weekend.
Last night a memorial service was held at St. Peter's College for Jack. There was more than a thousand people there.
During the Eulogy there was a lot of mention of Jack's love of the Crows, his meeting of players like Modra, McLeod and Goodwin when younger etc... Also lots of photo's of him as a youngster with Crows players like Ben Hart and even footage of him running out with the team as a mascot with Mark Bickley.

It was terrific then to see a number of Crows players in attendance. I saw Reilly and Van Berlo and believe there were many others. It is terrific to see the club we love paying their respects to the supporters who love them.
Yes the Crows are a terrific club!!

It was also interesting to see Chris McDermott there.

This kid was a year below me in school.. RIP. Crows did some fantastic things, was surprised and impressed by the armbands.
