Disappointing result but having said that, had someone said Geelong by 33 I'd have said beauty! I honestly thought we'd be creamed today, particularly after the loss of Huddo and 4 other changes (meaning we had underdone players coming in).

Burton looks like he's buggered his knee again. :( And was Torney injured? Can't believe he was on the bench for much of the second half of the last quarter.

We lost this game before we even started, but did not help ourselves with poor skills, and even poorer decision making.

Given that other results went our way this week, we are STILL in it. However I think it is safe to say, if we continue to play footy like this we will not last more than a week in the finals. I can't imagine Craigy OR the players would be very happy with that effort today.

:thumbsu: for today: probably very few but I did like the look of Douglas (when on), Porps marking (but kicking needs some help), Gilly, and I thought Griffin and Maric battled well considering they gave away something like 260 games (not to mention about 30 kilos) to their opponents.

:thumbsd: for today: Thompson, Stevens and Perrie. Very, very disappointing games from them all.

What game were you watching? Douglas was invisible out there. Well not true, when on his work rate was good but he can’t find the footy. Spent about 75% of the game on the ground (probably more) and he had 7 possessions. Absolutely NO impact on the game.

The turning point in today's game was in the 3rd quarter when Torney had the ball in space on the back flank. Apparently there were one on one's further up the field (not that you can see this on tv), but Torney held the ball up, they chipped around for 2 minutes, Bock kicks out on the full and Geelong get a goal. Poor, pathetic, conservative play. The players are playing with a complete lack of confidence.

I thought Johncock was best today. The backline played well. Porplyzia and Burton were the only two who could hold their head high in the forward line.

Hudson would've been handy today...

I saw him do at least half a dozen really good things... perhaps it was 7! ;) I think he's coming along nicely.

I agree. Ok, so he didn't dominate the game, but he showed promising signs (tackling, intensity etc) that he could be quite a handy player.

Douglas did some really nice things, obviously he needs to find the footy more, which is why I suggested a tagging role.

Certainly far from our worst today.

Sorry but its time to go Sarge, absolutely useless today.

Totally agreed on that.:thumbsu:

I find that attitude appalling. Bringing in underdone players while fit in-form people sit at home or play sanfl is ridiculous also :thumbsd:

Douglas needs to bulk up a hell of a lot more, he's still falling over all the time.

How good is Selwood? If he wasn't injured in the carnival he would have been taken at #1.
He captained (Marc Murphy) All Australian u/18's in 2005 when he was 16, kids a gun, brownlow material.

See compare him with Douglas, big big difference.

And compare their drafting positions or more importantly their standing in the under age football and then you realise why there is such a difference.

If not for a knee injury, Selwood would likely have been #1 pick and rightly so in what many thought was a very strong draft while Douglas was pick 16 in what many judges thought was a weak and shallow draft.

Can I just say Adelaide has shown real class today on the field and off, The amount of Adelaide supporters that have come on the Geelong board and congratulated us and wish us luck in the finals is amazing.
You guys are a real class act, shame there isnt more clubs and supporters like you guys.
We played the big boys today, if you had a full side we could have been in trouble. Good luck for the rest of the year.

Would have been an absolute certainty if not for the concern of his longevity.

Selwood was always going to be the best performed 1st year player out of that draft. He was physically ready to match it with the big boys and combined with his outstanding abilities, you've got one hell of a 1st year player.

Compared with Douglas, who needs another 5-10kg on his frame. The club knew he was a long term project when he was drafted. Selwood was going to be able to step in straight away.

What, that I thought we'd be flogged??? You can't seriously tell me I am the only crows supporter that thought we'd get a footy lesson against a team sitting at top of the ladder who'd won their last 13 games in a row? And by the way, I didn't make the selections.
