Going to be a bloody tough game, Giants are a very strong side with strengths every where and we are spluttering.

We’ve had some weird selections of late including this week, but hey we get Richie back up forward so that should help.

No Gibbs so whose going to stop Coniglio? My bet is no one, we will back our players in.

I just can’t see us winning this one but we bloody need to.

No Whitfield and no Green will help but gees they've got talent all over the ground anyway. We are only playing slightly better than last year when they clipped us here at home but at least we've next to zero injuries.
I'm expecting a loss but you never know. They've only beaten us here once. I'm still hoping that we will finally click before it's too late. I guess that's why Pyke has been flipping the team around recently. Tonight will certainly be a test.
Go Crows.

Nice and early this one. Off to work then some Korean fried chicken before the game.

I genuinely think we can win this one. Seems very odd that after all these years the club is talking about team balance but kudos to them for taking into account the oppo.

The issue is that we've selected the wrong player to correct the balance. We were 1 inside mid too many yep, but let's not replace him with Dougy.......

Anyway, good chance for ROB tonight and a few players would be on the edge of selection and need big games.

The Giants are supremely talented and have won by some big margins against mediocre sides. 2 of their best out, but I don't think we are quite playing well enough consistently to win.

Round 1, crows in excellent form in preseason, have occaisionally beaten hawks but are mostly their bunnies. Result - ongoing bunnies.

This week we play a form GWS who occassionally beat us but are mostly our bunnies, what will the result be?

I am as frustrated as anyone by us but weve been without our best mid for the last few weeks and in last weeks game was without our second best mid for a half. How would you like it if their best mid was already out and they lost their second best for a half? If i recall weve beaten them with these two mids and Sheil as well and whilst Taranto has improved i dont think he's at Sheils level yet.

Dougie better be a lot better than he was in the preseason today or ill not be impressed.

Has Greene been officially ruled out? I can't find a source.

I want to Pyke actually bring a 'coaching' performance tonight.

How will he bring the game on our terms?

Will he find ways to shutdown the Giants run?

Can he exploit any advantage/strengths of us (Not sure we have many at the moment...)?

Will he shutdown Coniglio?

Can we actually have some decent forward structure for once?

Going to be very interesting but next few weeks will tell us exactly how good Don is as a coach.

Douglas seems like a left field selection.
One game of 2’s where he was BOG. he’s a bit like Mackay in that he has a great game followed by some mediocre ones. Hoping that his good game last week does not count in this equation as it was a magoos game.

I don't know, I just don't know

Preseason was so long ago. Bring that and I will be happy. Win ugly and I will be happy

Just win

Think we can do this. Whitfield is an enormous out for them in the context of us wanting to play an I50 territory game. Huge loss.

I think we’ve got the game to shut them down if we keep it ugly. Slow movement, keep control, win our share of contests. Lock them down.

We’ve had patches of excellent form. Just need to combine the 1 st half v WCE with 2nd half v Melb. 4 quarter effort.

I can’t get myself in a positive frame for this game.
We are too old and slow.

Experience is not going to get us to the contest. I would have been more in the mind of “we have a chance” if we had some fresh young legs in.

Our last few games have been gruelling.

Douglas ran himself into the ground against the nineteeners. Was always on the bottom of packs or gut running to create space. He demanded selection. Will bring stronger work ethic to the side..

Gws have an attitude problem and have key players out. In the last 3 games we've been defensively very good at home. Only leaked in the second half against West coast due to Injury in the Midfield.

Gws have to find a way to score, they don't like grinds.

Gonna be cold and slippery, grind weather.

GWS are beatable, provided that we apply pressure for four quarters.
Their away form this year is not impressive: they have only one good win away from their home grounds/cities: Geelong by 4 points at LGBTI stadium. Admiitedly that one is better than we will be doing. Also, they were dismantled by Hawthorn and kept to 38 points, and lost to Freo in Canberra. Freo did nothing remarkable, simply kept playing the same for four quarters, while GWS failed to turn up for the last.

We beat them in Canberra in the JLT, keeping them goalless for two successive quarters. Their last-quarter rush was stymied by bringing on Fog and CEY to bash them physically.

So, we need a determined physical approach for four quarters, and they will lose. Of course, if we are slack and let them run past us like the Melbourne unregistered dogs of last week, we will be shot.

I think it will be a competitive game, none of this "they will obviously kill us" of the pessimists. They will only kill us if we don't turn up.

I can't see us winning this. In the last two years we've dropped off so much that there's no real reason to think we could compete with the top teams.
Like we did 2 weeks ago ?? Or against Geelong ??

We are capable.

We are capable.

We lost at home to West Coast two weeks ago from an impregnable position, who are far below their best. Not sure I'd be bragging about it. Once they turned up in the second half, we were crushed. Our competitiveness against Geelong is significantly overstated. If they had kicked straight, they smash us. We were never winning.

And that's our high watermark. Honourable losses.

We're not beating the top teams. We're back to where we were before 2016. It's like the progress we made in the 2017 season when we finally got some of these clubs didnt happen.
