Whether this comes off or not, I'd be happy with it. Allows Sammy to go back into defence, giving Maysie more leeway to intercept and attack. Then we go after some hard bodies experienced mids (free agents preferably) Barlow, De Boer, Ellis-Yolmen(not sure if he's contracted or not) come to mind, and even Mayne as a defensive fwd(doing a deal with Freo for Matera). This then allows us to use our draft picks to go get our Academy kids, and the best U18 talent available.
Which also allows us to then progress their development at the required rate, rather than throwing them in the deep end before they're ready, as we've done in the past.
All in all, our Suns go forward...............

Surely he gets upgraded to the main list now as well?? Which would mean one less pick in the draft to make.

Yeah reading the article again it does'nt state if he will be upgraded or if they have extended his rookie contract.

Negative. Rookies can be contracted for a maximum of two seasons, with each contract being for a season at a time.

Wait, so our options with him were either to extend his rookie contract to a 2nd (and final) year, delist/cut him from the rookie list, or upgrade him?
Good on him, took his chance with both hands and is reaping the rewards. Considering some of us weren't even expecting him to be drafted at all (Budarick was the one being talked about most) it's been quite a rise. Its also refreshing to have someone sign so quickly and easily. We should draft all our players from the GC area
Is the rule still in place that rookie upgrades count as a draft pick? Cos if so then it is still technically only 3 minimum. Although we already know of 3 players who wont be on the list next season, and we still have more delistings to come.

Russell and Tape were the obvious ones. I don't care about rookies because their impact on us were minimal, but I'm interested to see what we end up doing with the uncontracted non-delistees.

Problem is for us they are delistings instead of trades. That's what sets us apart from gws

What sets us apart is the fact Tape, Russell and Stanley were still on our list 6 years later.
Russell, Tape and Stanley were good clubman and were serviceable however i do feel like Tape and Russell didn't live up to their potential. Am i right in saying that Lynch, Swallow and Day are the only two remaining players from the original 2010 draft now that Prestia and Tape are gone.
