9/13 after 5 years. Hard to argue against that kind of retention rate. Then you have to ask if those 9 players have become list cloggers or if they have been able to cement a place in a top 4 side. Coniglio, Tomlinson, Patton, Smith, Haynes and Greene (6) all competed in GWS's crucial round 23 clash with the Kangaroos last week. Again, hard to argue against those kinds of numbers.
What more can you say...
What more can you say?
Tyson got turned into Josh Kelly (star) and Taylor Adams was traded for Heath Shaw (even bigger star and unanimous AA).
GWS were in a situation where list turnover was going to happen and they had resources to use that turnover to their advantage.
They knew some players would want to leave and they knew the mini-draft would give them extra picks they would need to find room for.
They have done an excellent job with that list turnover, getting good value for most of those departing. Most importantly, several were traded after year 2, early enough that other clubs still valued them.
We do talk about the academy players but they are setting up their future rather than being a part of their current best 22. Decent chance that 0 of the recent academy players will play in their first final. Which just means their initial list build over the first 4 years was excellent.
Credit where it is due. So well done you stinking snotbags!!!!

That turned into Jared Polec who them ****ed over the Lions by nominating port 2 years later and they got SFA in return. We traded 5 for Brennan... Jesus christ.

Basically it was a cluster **** all round
I agree Knockers was very solid and reliable for us and when he kept giving Wilkinson game after game I wanted to throw up the guy had zero AFL ability and showed zero improvementBrennan was much better than the McKenna's Whipping Boy he became
Similarly, perpetually dropping very good footballers like Warnock for players like Tape and Wilkinson and Sumner who probably deserved about 10 senior AFL games of footy max between them created a culture of resentment as well as destroying the prime livestock that it was supposed to be fattening
A very bad start predicted by some
May change my handle to Cassandra
Almost forgot about Warnock. Not a great kick or skills but a damn good shut down defender. Especially considering the amount of ball the was going down there, key forwards for opposition teams never seemed to kick a big back. Felt bad for him, he didn't lose many 1v1 contests. Was an expert of wrapping a forward up but not giving the free away.dropping very good footballers like Warnock

might be waiting till later in the day. i've noticed most of the bigger announcements seem to come around 2/3pm.Good news! Interesting that there is no announcement from the Suns on there Facebook or website that i can see?
I reckon Nicholls is GOING to be an A Grade Ruckman. I also hear the players can't believe how good the new facilities are looking and they are like kids at Christmas time blown away by how good they are. Apparently one said on a tour the other day.Good news! Interesting that there is no announcement from the Suns on there Facebook or website that i can see?
Would love to have a tour done and put up on the website.. I also hear the players can't believe how good the new facilities are looking and they are like kids at Christmas time blown away by how good they are. Apparently one said on a tour the other day.
It's got a 3 lane indoor 25 meter lap pool and hot and cold plunge pools with magnesium water for recovery and that's just the start. It's a ridiculously big upgrade.Would love to have a tour done and put up on the website.
Wonder once they are all completed if they do another members only tour of the new facilities, like the one they did around the stadium a couple of years ago. That was really good.
Make no mistake we are getting massive favours from the Commonwealth Games.
Tin Sheds will be a very distant memory /nightmare in a few weeks and it's significantly better than what we would have got at start up. This thing is world class.Yeah but isn't that the reason we started with tin sheds? Surely if there were no games we would've had something better to start with
Essendon have a few spare needles if we need one...I hear for their part after having us play out of demountables for 6 years the AFL gave us some new footys
Had to by our own pump and needle though
Amazing facilities I would love to have a digital tour of the new place when it is all said and done. Hard to check them out from the other side of planet Earth.
