big round this weekend!

MONASH, at home will be too good
OMS, were very good last week, surprised fairbanks wasnt mentioned in here the last week. kicked 9 in 3 quarters
FRIARS, to win by 20 odd in a tight game.
WERRIBEE, will win comfortably
WILLY....huge game. both teams will come out firing and with a point to prove. boys are looking forward to getting back at home and hopefully on the winners list! will learn a lot this week again. are NOBS the real deal or did they just come up against early spoon favourite first up? are BT no good or did they just come up against a quality team first round? how will we and aquinas respond to dissappointing first up games? can peninsula or OM keep up their good work from last week?

cant wait!
 
Trevor's take - after Round 2

Home ground advantage looks quite important and away wins will be very handy after a round that would give most sides hope of making the finals as follows:
Werribee - sitting pretty after 2 big wins and already the team to beat
Peninsula - have to be happy after 2 wins and a thumping of Mentone
Monash - two close wins that could have been losses is good news for the students who are usually slow starters
NOBs - would be quite happy with their form after having every chance of knocking Monash off but kicking inaccurately
Williamstown - seems like they could pencil in most home games and look to pinch some away to be right in it
Old Mentone - have to take heart from Rd 1 thumping of the above
Bulleen Temp - nice win at home puts them well in the mix
Whitefriars - would be spewing about losing 2 they could have won but still means they are good enough
Aquinas - as above
South Melbourne - form doesn't look great but will be hoping they struck Wbee and NOBs when they were hot

Eddie U dumb #$%T go and barrack for OM's or be a Friar man and show your character! Cop the losses on the chin like the players have, I'm sure they'll bounce back!

As I said the Pirates have snuck under the radar, watchout my matey's those blaggards are up and about!
 
In a top 4 you cant start the season with 2 losses against sides that they should beat and play finals very often. Peninsula and BT will probably be those sides in the 3-6 part of the ladder at the end of the year but they already have 1 up on Whitefriars if they want a top 4 spot

I will stick with them, I hope they bounce back, expected they would yesterday, but going to need some big upsets to play finals from here, another win at Werribee would be a nice start

Hey knackers. Hampton Rovers started the first 6 rounds of season 2007 in D1 at 2-4. 2 years later they were in B Section and still are. Wouldn't be writing anyone off after 2 losses just yet.
 
question for anyone from smd, does number 18 know how to play any other position other than a tagger?
noticed on the weekend he played on # 2 for Werribee who was in the back line and all he did was tag. Did he understand that if the werribee player he was put on was in the back line then he should have been playing forward.
perhaps during training this week the coaching staff should point out what your meant to be doing when your in the forward line.

Hahah dont we have this discussion after every Werribee/SMD match?

C. Lee can play. SMD identified that a while ago. Most likely he will find #18 on him again out at soldiers later on in the year.

Pretty sure tags are quite common in footy arent they? Couple of AFL players are making a living out of it.

My point wasnt that fact that Lee can play, it was because #18 didnt seem to understand that he was meant to be playing as a forward. Meaning you dont follow the back man around, he follows you.
so yes taggers are common in footy, but when your playing in a position that requires one. With that match up it should have been Lee tagging #18 not the other way around!!

Defensive Forwards are now quite common, their primary job is to stop a creative backman having an influence.

This is used to try and stop the run from defence, therefore keeping the ball in the forward line as long as possible and giving the other forwards a better chance at having more scoring ability. It looks wierd though, and is a little off centre to the local footy we have all come to love and know.

However Im not sure that this was implemented that well by SMD as by reports I have had, Cam had a cracking game and has starred in both games this season.

A.Kenez in his first game back in the twos, sat the first half on the bench then came on and broke the game open with 3 third quarter goals. Unbelievible effort from an unbelievible player.

I wouldn't worry about the mighty Friars slow start to the season, we should see the "Great Kenez" back soon, expect his inclusion to spark an undefeated march to the flag.

The only thing that may stand in our way is sad news that has moved in with his cheese and kisses. She has a firm hold of his aggots and is not impressed with his brave comeback, fearing he may do some long term damage. He wasn't even able to manage a sneaky beverage after the ANZAC day match as he was in fear of her wrath. If only he was as couragous with his Mrs as he is on the football field.

Yes HBP I got there to watch us kick a string of points in the 2nd quarter then play a very poor brand of football after that. Congrats to a determined foe.

As I said though watch out for the Pirates they are the real deal with the only threat their depth! Everyone will be chasing Werribee as they clearly are the leader of the pack at present, will be a very tough game for the Friars on Saturday.
 
Trevor's Tips Round 3

Aquinas v Bulleen Temp - pressure on Aquinas to get a win on the board and perhaps they will at home, but would expect a close game

SMD v Monash - can't tip SMD until they show something but almost 'season on the line' stuff this week so expect a bold showing at home

NOBs v OM - have to go NOBs at home after woeful trip away by OMs last week and NOBs will probably start favourites at home all year, plus they look like a good side!

Willy v Pen - working on the theory that this home ground advantage is a 10 goal differential to playing it at Peninsula, but would have to expect a close one with pirates on the prance early.

Wer v Friars - 'werribee at home' will probably be a catch cry this year and hard to see the friars causing an upset just now.

(Progressive for Trevor: 8/10 = 80%)
