Monash victory was completely unexpected. The senior side is not as good as last year. But the new coach looks to have brought in a completely new game plan. All the old gun ressies players have also retired. Monash wont make the four with either side. However, on that performance its fair to say that WB wont be in the top group of sides either.

Would you predict a thumping for Monash out at La Trobe and the same for WB versus Elsternwick?

Redgum: Would you say the strange geometry of the Caulfield "oval" contributed to your poor performance?

This weekend we see Ivanhoe vs Kew - least rated vs the most over rated.

Not looking for excuses Knackers, though looking back over your earlier post I notice that the concept of the ladder is not troubling you, it's the concept of prediction that seems the stumbling block.

Sounds like they had us all fooled re numbers on the track! Certainly one of the more impressive winners from the opening round.

But "the giant James Convery dominating the ruck work"...that's not the usual Elsternwick giant is it? I thought his name was Jack? Does this giant go alright too?

Interesting to see if there really are so many new players and if they're any good, or if it's just the coach/scribe talking the club up again.

I'm in no doubt that they are all just brillant

The scribe is the coach Dennis Grace. I saw him in action in their Friday night game last season and he's not one to talk up his team if they don't deserve it. He calls a spade a spade and is an excellent coach.

I feel all warm and fuzzy, there is a lot of love down at the wicks!!!!!!:D

Let's get down to the serious business of this week's matches:

I'm tipping:

Kew over Ivanhoe by 8pts ( will be a lot closer than many may predict)
La trobe over Monash by 10pts (Gryphs to be overrun in the final stanza)
Elsternwick over Westies by 16pts (West on the rebound will be tough)
Powerhouse over Hawthorn by 36pts (The house at home easily!)
Old Westbourne over Swinny by 45pts (No challenge for OW's here)

If you beg to differ, let me know...

After last weeks tips, everyone probably prefers I didn't tip their team, but 5 (or 6 this week) have to suffer!!

I'll go with the following...

Kew to draw with Ivanhoe (possibly nil all)
La Trobe over Monash by 18pts
West over Wicks by 12pts
House over Hawthorn by 25pts
OW over Swinny by 60pts

I've gotta get at least one right this week, surely.....

Here we go ............

Kew over Ivanhoe - 35pts ( but did like ETE's suggested result !! )
La Trobe over Monash by 21pts
Wicks over West by 22pts
House over Hawthorn by 38pts
OW over Swinny by 90pts

Nothing from Old man River or Oldtimer ??

Ivanhoe to bounce back against Kew by 25 points(Your only allowed 18 on the ground)
Monash over La Trobe 13 points (Still don't rate them)
West over Wicks by 7 points ( This is despite all the brillant players down at the wicks and there fantastic game plan and huge hearts).
Powerhouse over Hawthorn by 63 in the replay.
OW over Swinny by 1,063 points (Only cause they should be a higher grade. Just ask them).

With the mathematical progression of the picks so far, the next person to tip OW will have to do so by 135 points...

Tigernuts

Well I will screw that theory then!

Kew by 30
LaTrobe by 10
House by 20
OW by 66

I reckon my mob may have a tough task ahead but we're keen as the proverbial mustard to take to the field this weekend and if I have much to say about it we'll get up by a couple of goals over stiff opposition.

Good luck to all teams.

LD - you have to be kidding - Ivanhoe to bounce back? I know they were playing an A-grade team last week - but Kew will give them a thrashing. I was reasonably impressed with Kew and La trobe last week and get the feeling that they will get the points in their respective games this round.

Get on the Kew / Bears this weekend .......or you would be crazy!! ( or Crazybear?)

Just believe the thought of cocktail night and tunes such as "You're the voice" will inspire the boys this weekend. Despite Kews numbers on the the track.

Newsflash: Elsternwick have just applied to Football Victoria to enter the V.F.L next year.

Yes - I do know that a few of the Ivanhoe fellas like a sip / function. If they could do this for 4 points they might stand a chance. But this is chasing a football and not skirt and a CS cowboy!!

Kew by even more now - because the Ivanhoe fellas will be thinking about a function instead.

Also good news if the Wicks go to the VFL - this will mean Ivanhoe get a walkover and some points:p

We all loving dancing on the tables to a bit of johnny's you're the voice down at ivanhoe

I noticed that Coach Hollywood helped himself to ten of the best on saturday and throw in another 5 majors from his brother. 2 big losses for the hoes.

Not sure if you have seen his brother play. I think that even he would have been surprised he kicked 5, his brother must have passed it to him.

There you are 'me old China' .......thought you must have got lost this week from the drive home out west. No post game summary from last week ....might just let that one slide?

Good luck this week against Kew - but, I think you might be 0-2 !! Oh well you can have a few fluffy ducks to heal the pain.:p

Game summary, I think you could analyse that yourself. 1 game does not however make a season. I think you will see a different team play saturday and yes we will have a few fluffy ducks down at the club after a solid showing.

OK analyse myself - OW were a little too strong on the day?

"a solid showing" - sounds like a 'hope we go well' statement !!! On the back of that .....I want to change my tip. Ivanhoe to beat the Crazybears !!
