The cream of the draft crop all played well today.

LDU, Clark, Stephenson, Hayes and Coffield all with great games. Garner his best game for awhile but still below his best. Naish another who was ok but far from his best.

Not many players stood out lower in the draft. Mynott and Ross had good first halfs and are in the 2nd round mix, C.Thompson another solid game, Ed Richards and Ryley Stoddart offered a lot of drive down back both similar players.

A few even later in the draft who did some good things those include Matthew Day, Hugh Longbottom, Alex Federico, Riley D'Arcy and Matthew King.

Any stats for the guns from today?

Will come up on Monday as usual. Hard to say who had the most but I can tell you the player with the most impact was LDU, Coffield also didn't waste a possession for Northern

Top 60 has been updated, im never happy with my rankings its seriously difficult sometimes. Ive stuck to my gut feeling on players early in the year that have again played well late in the year in Seb Williams and Callum Porter. Bonar comes into my top 20, he could be anything and i like his potential.

I'd have Bailey & Petty inside the top 40 ahead of Ed Richards & Ethan Floyd.....Starcevich, Clavarino & Mynott also too early for mine.

Ballard, Dixon & Paton are 3 names I'd have in the 60 mix.
Bailey and Petty are harder to rate for me since I havnt watched them since the champs and they didn't catch my eye as much as Starcevich. I'm also trying to project the impact these players could have at the next leve. Like I said it's hard.

Clavarino is hard to place but his last month has been very good and can see what role he plays at AFL level. Mynott plays a tough style of football but doesn't have the muscle that Cerra or LDU have to pull it off, he shows signs.

Again Ballard and Dixon are hard to rate since the champs I have them
Ballard 71
Dixon 70
Paton 93

I mark 19 year olds harder than others do

Any chance of Brayshaw x 2 to the Saints?

Andrew at 7 or 8
Hamish at 4th rounds or as a Rookie?
I think any club in that range should consider it, if im Essendon im taking Andrew at 11 and Hamish later on. They work incredibly well together both are smart players with great leadership qualities and despite Hamish being abit more limited I still feel he should be on an AFL list. Both would also be perfect for the Saints.

Saints 2 picks are the most interesting, I still think they look to trade one or both for a gun player from another club. They could try and entice Tom Lynch over from GC although I feel he will stay he would be the perfect player to target with those picks.

nice numbers from J.Stephenson given most who watched the game said he was mainly up forward. His production since the Champs has been big.

A.Brayshaw also had a big second half of the season.

Stephenson started the game forward but played mostly midfield for the whole game.

Brayshaw's first half was better than his 2nd numbers wise. Yet to play a poor game this year

Yep - that's true. Solid, reliable and classy

Will Walker's numbers from Sandy look mighty impressive there Don....What kind of player is he?....Got his details per chance, as in D.O.B, height, positon played & weight?

Also noticed no Hamish Brayshaw stats there....Did you catch sight of Roughsedges' game per chance?....Opinion if so.

Did Ethan Floyd play midfield or back flank?....What are his strengths & weaknesses do you think?

Walker is an interesting player, decent speed and agility but can sometimes be slow to make decisions, he has a tremendous leap coming from a Basketball background. interesting prospect that's for sure. he is 187cm 80kg and born in March.

Sorry mate I forgot a few actually, ive added his stats in aswell as Northern and Gippsland's stats.

Yep i saw Roughsedge ive seen him twice now, still looks like a rookie prospect he has some similarities to Hamish Brayshaw although not as good up forward. He attacks the ball well with clean hands and works hard on the spread, definitely draftable.

Floyd played mostly on the wing, his workrate was huge was willing to run hard forward and back, perfect wingmans game. Very Gaff like.

Ah-hem.....pardon me but:

Amartey and Owens are basketball background. Walkers' is soccer. Newman and Murphy are the cricketers.

Apparently no-one plays Aussie rules first and foremost anymore. :p

Somebody told me he was basketball back in April, must have thought I was talking about Owens at the time. Sorry about that haha

Andrew I reckon would be a very good chance with 7 or 8 if we keep them, as long as we see him as being able to play an outside type role in particular.

The one who would fit our needs the best if deemed close enough to best available would be Lochie O'Brien. We would benefit greatly from a Gaff/Scully/Whitfield/Hill type, ideally with LOB-type kicking skills.

We don't need any more purely inside types unless they're an upgrade on the likes of Steven, Ross, Armitage, Steele, Dunstan, Stevens, Acres, Gresham and hopefully Freeman. Especially if they don't bring speed and/or pretty killer skills/decision-making to the table.

Is that where Hamish usually plays?

Can easily play more of an outside role, has plenty of class and a great kick and finisher around goal. O'Brien would be another good option, hasn't been his best year but he has a bunch of talent and a good footy IQ.

Hamish plays as a pure inside mid that can go forward and play as a hard working 3 tall type, he has good leading patterns and offers a lot of great direction to his teammates.

One thing's for sure, we'll know all about what Hamish brings to the table as a result of him spending most of the year playing with Sandy in the VFL.

Looks like he's done terrifically well since going back to the TAC Cup, which is good for him.

If we keep our two picks I imagine those most likely to be in the mix would be the ones who have speed, who can comfortably play on the outside, like LOB, Stephenson (although I reckon he'll be gone by then), Brayshaw and maybe Coffield, and alternatively maybe also someone like Naughton.

We need to add to our KPD stocks.

If we don't trade our two firsts for anyone already in the system it also wouldn't surprise me if we either tried to swap them for picks like 2 and 19/22 (to get one of Rayner or Dow), or if we alternatively traded one of them for say Richmond's two firsts, giving us 3 first rounders, with one in the top 8.

Thoughts on Worpel's season and draft ranking? He seems to be steadily dropping down the order as the season goes on.... How to do see him developing?

Been a mixed bag for Worpel, his last month hasn't been great but their are reasons for that that have recently come to light for me so my rating of him now would be a tad harsh. I still feel he goes in the top 30 especially with players that play like him in the AFL finals playing well.

I don't think there is much development left in him especially body wise but by all reports he is a good leader and he may be able to develop other parts of his game in an AFL system.
