Dal Santo playing for Casey

Just heard on Fox Sports News Dal Santo is playing for Casey this weekend? True?

Yes thats true, i heard SEN confirm it.

The club has lost the plot, dropping a player that has our second most disposals this year and 4th most tackles. It must be for diciplinary reasons.

Jones,McQwalter,Birss,Dempster are all VFL players.
Dal Santo is a quality A grade league Footballer.
Get Rid of Lyon Now.
F*** the saints.

Yeah. You never know whether to trust Fox Sports News 'cos it's so Sydney based, they could be talking about Nick Maxwell or Nick Malceski. You'd think to get Dal Santo back to form they would pop him on a half back flank and make him more accountable.

He'd be in any other teams starting 18.

I'd wait until it's confirmed before believing this, but ...
Lyon has been saying in the press releases that expectation is based on ability and if a player's performance doesn't live up to expectation then they are at risk of being dropped. No-one has more ability that Dal Santo - so expectation would be highest with him.

That really is terrible logic. You wouldn't see Australia drop Ricky Ponting because he was only averaging 40 with the bat and replacing him with Michael Buchanan because he is playing out of his skin and averaging 30.

If Dal Santo is still playing footy that is good enough to land him in the best 22, it shouldn't matter if that's not up to how good he can be if you are going to pick inferior players to fill his spot.

Without trying to sound like I am trolling but why listen to those rumours when you know that they aren't entirely true?

It would be a real shame if Dal has been dropped because he is a big name player that the saints need.

I wouldn't be surprised if SEN are talking out of their arses as per usual.

I hope this isn't the media jumping to conclusions and naming the "big name player" themselves. Well known fact Dal hasn't had the best of years but by no means is he at the front of the line to be dropped. Unless this is his reward for very very poor defending and accountability. The essence of Rossy's gameplan.

Sure he's not playing as well as he has in the past, but he's still playing better than 75% of the side. If this was Lyons logic Kosi,Joey, Gram, Rooey etc would have been dropped well before. You cant tell me NDS couldn't do better than a Milne or Schneider in a forward pocket. Maybe we're tanking already. If thats the case I wont bother going anymore and work instead of going and buying $8.90 crap scotch.

Darn, I missed this thread at first and replied to the other thread...

In essence, I'd feel sorry for Dal Santo, but would like it seeing Lyon prove some cojones to prove that things really have to change - there a few decision that would be seen as a bigger wake-up call to the team.

I think at least Ross Lyon is showing some balls dropping Dal.(If this is true)

Let's be honest , he hasn't been up to scratch and no player is bigger than the club.

I believe the underling factor is Dal's attitude. Dal needs to work harder , and hopefully this is a wake up call from him and more importantly the whole team.

Dal will take this on the chin and come back the player will all know he can be.

Yeah well I guess Ross has done things with Armitage that has left us bewildered, ditto Birss.

I wouldn't be surprised to have him not named tonight, only to be a late inclusion tomorrow night.

I would have hoped that someone at the club had told him now that he can't waste $5K for such a stunt every week.

Was thinking the same thing - emergency for a Harvey/Dempster/Schneider, and then coming in for one of them.

No I mean, he'll be listed as an emergency and then come in on Friday night. No fine for that.

good move by ross..

dal santo has been coasting for quite a while now and not working anywhere near hard enough... but he thinks its ok because he is a regular 1st's player..

he is obviously making an example out of him, if it was a lesser player it wouldnt have much of an impact around the club, but because it is dal santo it will...

about time ross started to stamp some authority and make his presence felt around the place.. he is the head coach after all and what he says goes regardless of whether people think its right or wrong... he is a good coach in essence and has had a great apprenticeship so hopefully he'll start showing why he was so highly regarded in the first place..
