When Carlton coach Denis Pagan was asked whether it felt like 'half a victory', he said: "I remember Allan Jeans saying it feels like 'dancing with your sister', and that's probably what it feels like."

Did Jeansy really say this? About a draw??... All the records I can find show that he said it about winning pre-season games...

what does it mean???

...anyone got any better ideas about Deni$'s ramblings...

It means you can do all the moves but at the end of the night there's no result.

The comment makes as much sense as playing Kouta on Tredrea.

Maybe Denis could have been honest for once and said he stuffed up.

denis came to a hopeless team with drafting bans.
is he in his third year now? - i'm not sure..

he's drawn with the reigning premiers at home, and he stuffed up?

do a search on anyone who tipped this game before the season started. or even before the round started..
i'm sure > 9/10 people would have tipped port adelaide to win.

that 2 points COULD make carltons season.

:D Hawthorn beat Brisbane as well, it appears that when Pluto is aligned with Neptune and directly opposite Uranus these anomolies occur , all will be normal soon.

nice cover up.
i think carltons acheivement FAR out ways hawthorns. i considered putting money on hawks.. i thought carlton had no chance in hell..

Pagan's after match press conference was pathetic.

Blaming young players, moaning about players out and whining about draft picks. His comment about rushing to the bathroom and going for the razor blade every time he sees Wells play was moronic. It was clear watching the game that Pagan's first quarter matchups were what gave Port the jump. Denis obviously didn't rate the players Port had out and lost during the game.

The guy never takes the blame when he stuffs up.

you're a deadset moron.

if any coached stuffed up in that game, it was mark williams.

denis pagan got 2 points from a game which no eye brows would have been raised had he lost the game by 40 points.

That's the way I see it too. JD makes a good point about early match ups but with our limited resourses down back it's going to be 'hit and miss' until we get some height down there.

...if a draw was offered to me before the game I would've taken it.

Ease up JD! I agree that playing Kouta on Tredrea was a bad move, but there were also some good moves. For example, what about playing Whitnall on Tredrea? What about playing Walker and Houlihan in the middle? These moves were quite beneifcial and atleast Pagan has the guts to try a few things.

If you never mix things up, you won't know what players are capable of....

Atleast Pagan got them fired up at quarter time.

I sensed we might do something this week, but I still would've taken the draw.

The Whitnall one was obvious and was actually selected at the position. Pagan's pre-match ducks and drakes don’t catch anyone off. Remember Livo was right to go according to Pagan after round one. He's playing a very poor Sheedy atm.

Listen to Pagan's press conference - it's just one long whinge. I thought the impressive part of Carlton’s game was the performance and perseverance of some of the younger players. Rather than acknowledge their performance he went on a whinge about the missing draft picks. He risks doing an Eddie and convincing his playing list they don't have the talent IMO.

Walker and Houla I thought were great. Did Pagan acknowledge them? No, he bemoaned the fact Campo wasn’t there. All in all, it was a ******** poor performance by Pagan.

He likes his senior players, no doubt. And this may surprise you but I'm actually quite worried about it. The younger guys have a lot more talent than some of the senior guys (who will remain nameless ;) ) and I'm not just talking about the rejects.

A lot of the senior players come from our Parkin/Brittan era and often show less heart than the new comers. If you watch some of our close games, you'll rarely see these senior players become the hero.

Surely you are not serious! Port have a lot of their prime movers out and Carlton have an excellent record of winning the next week after a loss. If Carlton are going to be a serious challenger come finals time they should be winning these games.

I along with many others gave the young Hawks absolutely no chance of beating Brisbane. Credit to them.

To say Carlton's achievement of coming a draw with Port far out ways the Hawks smashing Brisbane is downright stupid!

Define a lot.

Burgoyne, Cornes, Pickett, Mahoney.

Cornes was the biggest issue for you.

We were missing Campo, Scotland, Livingston, Thornton - arguably we were more depleted than you... we both had underdone players.

Apparently Carlton can't be any good.

i'll use that as my retort! :)

i watched the hawks last week against essendon, and i really thought they'd be a fair chance of knocking off brisbane (maybe not by so much)..
i hadn't seen much of carlton, but from what i understood, they were barely going to win a game for the rest of the season.

so that was my reasoning that carlton did more in drawing with port then hawks vs brisbane..

both are big acheivements and the kind of signs i'd LIKE to see at collingwood..

I suppose I am just used to seeing the Pies knock off FULL strength Port teams at AAMI :D

Don't barrack for Port mate. Just stating I thought Hawks win was more impressive than the Blues draw!

Did Pagan steal your missus JD?

Most would say well done on getting a draw with the premiers on their home ground, you choose to bag Pagan for anything you can think of. Plenty of moves don't work during a match but everyone is astute after the fact. If Kouta had have done well back there, you would have remained strangely silent. As for Whitnall, he is selected at CHB regularly but rarely lines us there. I don't know that it was that obvious. I would be interested to dredge up all the times that the Pagan knockers have ridiculed him for having Whitnall down back. Credit where credit is due I say. Pull your dress down JD, your bias is showing.
