I dont know about you guys, but one day I would love to see him captain the black and white. Week in and week out he gives our boys lift. He's one of our most consistant players and I just reckon he's a superstar:D

I think he would he in with a chance. He is very consistent, strong in contests and has shown over the last two weeks that he can stand up under pressure and kick some important goals.

bloody oath, before SSB was captain, i had my sig. "Swanny for Captain" love the bloke, and since his offence early on in his career off the field has been VERY well behaved. Absolute Champ!

Dane Swan is my favourite player (Sorry Wakes!) but Im not sure if the Captaincy is something he actually would be looking for. i think he would prefer the chance to just focus on his own game. You'd think by now if it was the direction he would want to go in he would be in the leadership group. I was extremelly surprized that he was not in the leadership group this year and have assumed that was his decision due to his on field (and off) performance over the past 3 years. He is a leader whether he wants to be or not, the way he plays week in, week out. I think he'll go close to the Copeland this year and should give a brownlow a push over the next few years.

From an outsiders point of view, I think Pendlebury will be your team's next captain after Burns, but Swan is no slouch, great footy player but I think he likes flowing under the radar a bit, which I don't blame him, do your stuff on the field then get off, one of the best ways to go about footy in my opinion.

Hrmm.... I'm not totally sold. Yeah, he's a fantastic player but I can't see him as captain material..... Could proove me wrong though.
Although, I would prefer Harry as captain.

I think the Bombers supporter summed it up perfectly. Why does everyone here automatically assume that our best performing players have to become captains? So what if he lifts the side?

We have the likes of Travis Cloke, Scott Pendlebury and even Harry O'Brien who lift the side at times and appear to have more leadership nous about them. Someone like Pendles or Trav are certainties as Collingwood captains.

As for Swanny, I think he is more than happy to be underrated and goes about his business on the field, niggling his direct opponent after kicking his 2nd or 3rd goals of a game. He beat Kane Cornes last night, and Cornes is a permier midfielder in the AFL, tells you something about Swan as a midfielder, huh?

Agreed on Pendles for our next captain. He's a cleanskin, a leader (he's already in the leadership group) on field, and an outstanding player.

Pendlebury has it written all over him. He will be a perfect role model for the club. He's already in the leadership group (in his third year at the club) which says a lot about the bloke and how much we rate him.

I would love to see Swanny as captain he is a deadset champion and a true workhorse and despite not being in the leadership group he continues to set an example on the field and stand up when needed. That said I can't help but agree that Pendles appears to be groomed for the role... Don't mind that either:)
