Collingwood has secured the services of much-improved midfielder Dane Swan for the next three seasons after he signed a two-year extension to his existing deal on Friday.
Swan, 22, broke through for 21 games last season - including the Pies' Elimination Final - after having managed just 30 in the previous four years and he was grateful for the opportunity to extend his stay at the club.
"It's good to know I'm staying for another three years at least, and I owe the footy club a lot seeing as they stuck with me when times were a bit tough off the field and I got in a little bit of trouble," Swan told collingwoodfc.com.au.
"They supported me and showed faith in me and my ability I suppose, and hopefully I can repay them in the next few years by playing some good footy and going deep into the finals."
Swan joined the club after being taken 58th overall in the 2001 NAB AFL National Draft and capped his breakout year with a sixth-place finish in the club's best-and-fairest count
Not suprising, but good news non the less.
