nah they would have him doing a bit of walking by now even some light stationary bike work
to keep the muscles from wasting

Don't think he's been able to walk much the last 2 months or so. Lots of couch time.

It hasn't stopped him getting out and about at the Clubs..........wouldn't expect anything less from him.

Really hope his foot/leg comes good.......he deserves to go out on his own terms.

Those 97 goals with Brown playing full forward kicking late 40s something goals was incredible in 1990.
Swan for all his incredible talent, could never do Daicos.
Both outstanding in their way. Elite!

Suggest the loss of Swan this year was as bad a loss as could be. Just so smart on field, and though not a captain type is a leader on field.

It goes the other way too Daicos for all his incredible talent, could never do Swan either.

That's true too.

Magpies champion to make call on future soon

Swan will return if he can be at his best
COLLINGWOOD champion Dane Swan will make a call on whether he continues his AFL career within a month.

The veteran remains open to playing on in 2017 after breaking his foot in the opening minutes of the season against the Sydney Swans.

"I'm reasonably close to making it (a decision), I just have to speak to the surgeon again and a couple of people in my trusted circle and go from there," Swan told Triple M on Friday night.

Adding he expects to do a press conference once his decision is made, Swan said his future hinges on whether he believes he can play pain-free.

"If I think I go round and not be in pain with my foot and not ache, I'll play on.

"But if there's any little doubt there that I don't think I can get through a year without pain or starting to resent footy, waking up aching and walking with a 'loser's limp' doing more damage to my foot for the rest of my life, well I won't go on," he said.

The good news for Pies fans is Swan has started running on an Alter-G anti-gravity treadmill and has not faced any major hurdles during his recovery.

However, there remains much to do before any return to football, including the removal of "five or six" screws from the foot that suffered a Lisfranc injury in round one.

Swan, who will turn 33 next February, has played 258 games for the Pies and won the 2011 Brownlow Medal.

Interesting... Lets hope for some good news.

If he's making the decision before the screws are removed from his foot and therefore before he knows how the foot has pulled up, I reckon he's packing his bags.

The screws being removed is a pretty minor procedure. The bone would have already fused, hence why they are removing them. It shouldn't make any difference to him.

I'll hang on to this until confirmed:

I Love Swannie:hearts:

Just noticed this on the AFL site....

Look to the RHS under Late Mail Live...

Hope it's not true

Edit - Swan could refer to a Sydney player but I haven't heard anything...

Ted Richards retired

Edit: If Dane Swan retired it'd be a headline not a blurb.
