Swanny will be out for only 4-6 weeks. At worst his injury will be 8 weeks but he is tough and durable. Will be back in no time

Yeah nah. Will be 12 weeks absolute minimum in a cast recovering from major surgery to insert a titanium rod and then he will basically have to start from scratch. He won't be back until late in the season at best. This is not a hairline fracture.

This is the WORST possible outcome in terms of the drugs "saga". Swanny's going to lose it now and call it a day.

I can see that as I say he would hate Rehab

Nothing would piss you off more than slugging your guts out for a whole preseason, then breaking your leg the first time you touch it in Round 1. Apart from your pub burning down... :p

That would Suck and I could see Swanny Drowning his Sorrow with a Few Cold Ones;)

All the best to Swanny, tough seeing a champion go down like that!

Spoke to a pies trainer an hour or so ago and he said Swanny was really upset (obviously). Booked in for surgery about lunchtime today so is under heavy sedation at the moment.

Very doubtful he will be back this year as cast is a minimum 12 weeks then about the same for rehab.

May be the end of him playing in my opinion he doesn't live for footy and he was 50/50 for next year anyway.

12 weeks in a cast seems ridiculous

Hopefully he gets back for a farewell game later in the season. He did say that if he thinks we are not going to have a chance to win a flag he will retire so it looks like it's his last season.

The footy gods almost couldn't have picked a worse bloke to take out with a major injury. Horribly unlucky for Swanny to be taken out the way he was as it wasn't even his own doing. It was the bloke that smashed him from the side and landed practically on top.

Anyway, who knows if Swanny will be back or not. It sure does seem unlikely for this season considering the seriousness of the injury.

As for will he go on next year and pull on the black and white again? No one knows for sure and I'm sure even Swanny doesn't know at this stage.

Swanny, get well soon champ and feel better :thumbsu:

I can't ever remember my heart sinking or literally feeling ill watching a player go down, but it happened last night.
Good luck with your recovery Dane, look forward to seeing you out there again.

God I started shaking like a leaf at the ground last night when he went down. The tears followed and a frantic refresh of Twitter for the next 20 minutes followed. He doesn't deserve to go out this way.

His injury is indicative of where we are at the moment.. the team looks like a shambles and experimental. 5 years of rebuilding and still so much uncertainty as to who we should put here and there.. swans injury is somewhat of a cry for help. When are we ever going to look stable enough. Its uncertainty week in week out i feel again this yr.. im getting sick of it.
