I dont think is is ELITE just yet very good footballer though

I was thinking about how he has started to kick goals this year and played well in most games we have won big smokey for a place

Yep he is in the tier just below elite, that said I think he is pretty high in that next tier and the thing stopping him from being elite is probably his field kicking and this year goal kicking too.

I think he's getting there. If we consider an "elite" player to be one of the 5 or 10 best players in the league, then he's not quite there yet. There are many players who are ahead of him.

That being said, his performances over the past 3 or 4 weeks would definitely be classified as "elite" performances. His field kicking has been better and his kicking for goal much improved. Those are the only aspects of his games where there have been some questions asked and if he can improve on these deficiencies then I think he will soon be classed among the elite. Coaches also recognise his value to the team, which is why he gets the main tag most weeks. (and very often beats that tag)

Agree with the consensus that he is probably in the rung below elite.

I would not classify him as an elite midfielder until he can make AA. I don't think he is quite there yet.....

i think it was caro that threw the elite status comment out there, beofre that they spent a few minutes talking and showing highlights about leons game and how much hes improved over the last year or so.

There are certain attributes about Swan that are in the elite level in the competition. His ball winning ability, marking ability [ for a mid ], strength and his ability to play a limited amount of time and still have an impact on the game is up there with the best.

However his kicking needs a fair bit of work which taints peoples perception of him.

Dane Swan is amongst the games elites and he is very very underated. I to cracked the shits when i heard carro say that he had achived it this year.

elite. This would have to be the most overused word in the media and bigfooty. Think about the games established elite players and then look at Dane Swan, I know who I would rather have in my team. Not taking anything away from Swan as he is a great player but some people like to throw labels at players a bit prematurely.

He is an 'A Grade' player with Ablett, Brown, franklin, Harvey and Judd the few A+ players

the only downfall of Swanny is his kicking, for goal and in general player

Still, he is one of my favs and ive worked out in this is years Brownlow he is currently on 18-22 votes (could sneak a top 3, defs top 5)
