Another small forward is probably not going to get a game at Adelaide with Cameron and betts. Not really going to strengthen us.

Edit: Unless he can play some other needed role. I think we need more biggish strong blokes though.

Sometimes though, they go above and beyond in their recommendations. Millions of people - billions probably- survived after their mother drank during pregnancy. Yes excessive drinking can cause foetal distress and other complications. I accept the science. I just disagree with the necessity for complete abstinence, but respect people's decision to do so.

look I don't actually have much issue with your position, or the way you have outlined it. I do struggle with the halfwitted way the other one has expressed themselves.

Really?

It was well written, but in my opinion it was quite generic, lacked personality, lacked passion and lacked emotion.

I think he said exactly what he had to say to not get booed from the room and nothing more.
I think he wrote a speech, I don't think that's what he delivered. I think he spoke mostly from the heart. It wasn't articulate or grammatically correct. If you watch, he rarely looked at his notes...and you could tell when he was reading from it. I'm sure the general gist was the same, but I think it was absolutely genuine.

Can we put a poll up on this thread or do we have to make a new one?
Would be good to see what the results of this would be.
What do you want the club to do?
1. Just accept the compo pick
2. Match the offer but take whatever they can get
3. Match the offer and let him go to the PSD if Geelong dont trade his value.

Easy there tiger who's giving advice to who? I just offered my observations on how I found the first two years of parenthood. And that is years 0-2 are somewhat inconsequential compared to years 4+ when they start forming relationships with their greater community. I think you need to re-read my post and you'll see I haven't all tried to tell the Danger's how to be parents, just that I can't understand the pull of wanting to go home for family reasons before you've even had kids.
0-2 inconsequential? That's when my wife and I most needed support. Especially the first baby when you don't know what you're doing, before your realise know one ever knows they're doing and babies are pretty robust. It takes one or two years to "work it out" and I found my wife was quite stressed an emotional about trying to do it right and needed a lot of support.

4. Not take direction from big footy posters

Doctors still don't recommend it. 70's or not.

Personallly i think she can do what she wants, i guess being in the public arena makes it a bad look, especially if any potential child cpmes outt looking like Lotney

Most reports now say that three or so glasses of wine a week don't affect foetal development.

That being said, Doctors still discourage it, under the "better safe than sorry" doctrine.

I live in WA and my family is in SA. My wife's parents are both passed and we managed to have 2 kids (now 6 and 4) without the support of family to help out

Was it hard? Hell yes! Was it impossible? Hell no!

I'm not going to begrudge Patrick making his decision, after all, it's his decision. I just think he could've handled the situation so much better

Obviously not saying it can't be done, I'm saying it's good to have the support and those years aren't inconsequential.

No doubt. Hence why i'm not going to go off in vitriol and attack the man. I hope he and his family have a quality life, i just hope he sees no football success while we see at least 1 flag to rub it in

I was answering your own hypothetical question. The only way to give PD certainty as a restricted FA is by coming up with an offer AFC could not match.

then you missed my hypothetical question's point. It was about waiting until unrestricted free agency because he doesn't have certainty now.

we have no reason to believe Geelong even can outbid us, let alone are willing to try

How could he have handled it better? The AFL rules prevent him from making a public announcement during the season, he let the Crows know so they could take care of other players so what else was he meant to do?

I'm angry with his decision. But that speech made it clear this was a very hard choice. And he's right, family does, and should, always come first - something that the death of Phil Walsh highlighted so brutally in July.

No doubt, but I put myself in the scenario of someone who can not accept anything about him leaving and that speech would have felt like fingernails down a chalkboard to a degree with some of the things he said and the way he said it. It would not have gone down well with some people.

I think it's more about his family wanting to spend time with them while they raise a family than the opposite..

If you raise your kids in Moggs Creek and want them to be successful, there can't be an expectation that they live around the place as well. I would say if your comment was accurate, it would be Mardi's family more than Danger's.
