Yeah I agree, once again we're embracing players that want out.

I've instantly lost some respect for JJ after seeing this.

Look , while it comes across as a bit vomit inducing, and I'm as peeved at Danger as everyone else, need to keep in mind what the players may have gone through when Phil Walsh was killed and the bonds that may have developed during that time. Despite him leaving being pretty poor, I don't think I can begrudge the players reacting however they feel towards him, because we weren't part of the inner sanctum.

I found this on the net, thought it was appropriate given current circumstances:
"When one door closes another door opens; but we so often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door, that we do not see the ones which open for us" (Alexander Graham Bell).

Is there a precedence for such a quality player being a restricted free agent ?? Why couldn't we go to the trade table demanding Joel Selwood or bust ?? Fair's fair ???

The other RFA's that left were either offered godfather deals their club could not match (Buddy) or their compensation pick was too good to refuse (Pick 3 for Frawley) or their club chose not to match and instead spend the money on another free agent (Betts).

We could ask for Selwood, but Geelong would just laugh at us.

Realistically we'd be aiming to get more than what we'd get via compensation, but not as much as we'd get for a contracted player.

Frank Costa apparently thinks AFC matching the offer is outside the spirit of the RFA agreement

See - pissing off the Cats president -
There's always a silver lining :D:D:D
Approaching players outside the "allowed window" is outside the spirit of Footy but it hasn't stopped Geelong.

And Tippett left Adelaide FOR a flag

It's the way of it
Danger alone is not the difference between winning a flag and not

Course not. Every other team in history has won a flag without danger.

But bloody hell it makes it an easier pill to swallow when you can throw on a DVD of danger lacing out to tex on the last Saturday in September and the boys on the podium.

No, it doesn't. It certainly damages the chances of winning one in the near future though. Unless we manage to pull a rabbit out the hat and end up with say Redden and Bennell, and get B Crouch fit and firing, this sets us back massively.

Oh
And here we go in a circle

It didn't stop Hawks and Cats - and it hasn't helped Sydney

And whose to say we won't unearth a cracker?
You had Laird pegged as the player he is did you ?

Champion players to leave AFL clubs

Gary Ablett - After 2 premierships and a Brownlow, multiple AA selections, best and fairest

Chris Judd - After 1 premiership and a Brownlow, multiple AA selections, best and fairest

Lance Franklin - after two premierships and 2 colemans, multiple AA selections, Best and fairest

Shaun Burgoyne - after 1 premiership, multiple AA selections

Dayne Beams - after 1 premiership, multiple AA selections

Dangerfield leaves Adelaide with unfinished business. I disagree that he has given his all, you cannot quit halfway through a job

They may laugh, but wouldn't we have the last laugh seeing Dangerfield having to go through the draft ??

I was fine with how he acted right up till he did that joke with Rowe about announcing he had signed... a contract for a boat. Hahahahahahahaahhaahahahahahahah. Yeah. F*ck off.

I honestly don't understand how someone could post all the "Team Crows" stuff Danger has on social media this year, while at the same time be negotiating to walk out the door.

It honestly strikes me as slightly sociopathic behaviour. If that was me in that situation I'd be feeling way to guilty to joke about contracts with teammates, etc. like he has this year. That behaviour was probably the major thing that had me convinced he was staying.

This! Very strange individual.

Guys Geelong are going to shoot them self in the foot with this.

Crows will 100% Match
We are most likely going to get 2 First Round picks and likely a player,
Yes we lose Danger, but we could land Bennell or Hamish Hartlett
Also going to have a War chest ready for Trade Period to land some big fish
Pyke to Head Coach, Campo Assistant (Bring in another Assistant)
Pick up Hampton and Most likely Talia
Possibly land one of Aish, Menzel, Redden or Seedsman

Geelong
Gain Danger this year
Don't think there going to gain Henderson and Selwood
Most likely going to lose Nakia to us
End of 2016, Bartel, Mackie, Enright retire

I suspect that we had between 1 million and 1.5 million in place for danger our war chest is full. Bennell is only on around 450K at Suns. Hartlett would be on around the same, Aish,Menzel,Seedsman would be on about 250-300K i dare say. I would think Redden would be around 350-400K.

If things pan out like this as I think they will we come out on top of Geelong by a mile.

Im sorry.

You are attributing something to him that has not happened ...
The realms of fantasy I don't bother arguing

We should have made a stand when Gunston chose hawthorn as his preferred club. We should have sent him to the pre-season draft. Anyway, better late than never. Just don't let Nobke anywhere negotiations.

Geelong don't have pick 3, pick 20 and a highly rated junior key forward to give up like Carlton did. Carlton likely weren't planning on getting Judd for nothing either, as the mechanism to do so didn't exist.
No but they do have pick 8 next years first rounder and highly rated junior mids like Motlop. And actually the mechanism was exactly the same then. It was and is either trade or PSD, people need to realise there is a huge difference between free agent and restricted free agent.
The Judd and Danger scenarios are almost identical in fact.
