With all due respect Jenny, I hate this attitude. Such a response breeds mediocrity. Horrible defeatist attitude.
Dig your heels in.
If Greenwood was 25 , probably 28-32 ....2nd roundWhat would murdoch be worth on the open market as a stand alone trade?
Definitely need more than pick 9I hope you are joking???
If we only get pick 9 I will be livid at our incompetence.

Agreed. Too many people on here expressing their "wants" rather than being realistic. Some are simply focused on screwing Geelong rather than being focused on achieving something better than pick 14.Problem is, in these situations the team losing the player rarely gets their worth. See Hawthorn/Buddy. It won't be long before the compensation pick is removed completely and therefore we would get nothing. People need to be realistic in their expectations. If we can manufacture something better than pick 14, we've done well. If we can then turn that pick(s) into something even better - bonus.
I couldn't care less about screwing Geelong. I think they'll be average with or without our help.Agreed. Too many people on here expressing their "wants" rather than being realistic. Some are simply focused on screwing Geelong rather than being focused on achieving something better than pick 14.
Personally I think two first rounders or a first rounder and a player is about what we will get....at best. Would like more though.

I care about getting adequately compensated for one of the best players in the league who, if we match, is not a free agent.

I didn't say that you wanted to screw Geelong. However there are many comments on here that are driven wholly on getting back at Geelong. Those posters are obviously angry but they need to step back and refocus on nothing else but getting the best deal for Danger. That's what we should all want.
The debate really is about what we will get. Again some people are aiming for the world and some are trying to be realistic. Unfortunately those trying to be realistic are being accused of being easy beats or mediocre. My view is we should try for the max (whatever that is) but we need to be prepared that we might get 2 items....2first rounders or a mix of a first rounder and a player. If we end up with that I am not going to get pissed at the club. More than that and I will be ecstatic and if we only get pick 9 I will be pissed.
if we play hardball think it might get to a stage where geelong pull out , there is a tipping point where getting danger for them will not be worth it , hopefully we can find the point and ask for just underswhats so unrealistic about 2 first and a player?
geelong want .. geelong pay.. simple.
whats geelong gonna do when we say no? "we'll take him in the psd"?
It's not an option for Geelong to pull outif we play hardball think it might get to a stage where geelong pull out , there is a tipping point where getting danger for them will not be worth it , hopefully we can find the point and ask for just unders
I am not sure I understand. I said that if we get 2 first rounders or one first rounder plus a player that I wouldn't we pissed at the club. (many on here would be). I then said that of we got more that that I would be ecstatic however if we only got one first rounder or one player I would be pissed.Pretty small wiggle room there between being pissed off or not. Basically a 5 pick upgrade in a poor draft + a 2nd or 3rd rounder and you're happy.
A 5 pick upgrade, and a 1st rounder and you're ecstatic.![]()

No.. I'd be satisfied, not happy. 2 firsts and best 22 player would be ideal and fair. Especially when two early picks is his worth. We are guaranteed of pick #14 at the lowest. Therefore getting #9 from Geelong is a 5 pick upgrade.
So for #9 plus an average player (who we arbitrarily say is a 2nd rounder) you're not happy or sad.
For #9 only you're pissed.
For #9 and another 1st rounder, you're ecstatic.
I'm just pointing out (maybe being a bit facetious) that there's a fine line between you being pissed at the club and being ecstatic.
If there's no option to pull out we ask for 3 first rounders and 3 playersIt's not an option for Geelong to pull out
We aren't that greedy. I just mean the AFC will guage with negotiations what they will part with. Geelong walking away with a reasonable trade will be a failure and may cost them his contractIf there's no option to pull out we ask for 3 first rounders and 3 players
There is definitely a point where geelong don't trade with us , we need to try find it and pull back a fraction so we get maximum

Are we in a position of power here though? If we only get 9 and Murdoch it would be a poor result…should get minimum another 2nd rounder/Thurlow type.
Yep if we matchAre we in a position of power here though?
I think the balance of power is a fine one ... both clubs don't have enough power to demand anything, as there is too much to lose if goes bad either way.Are we in a position of power here though?
If Geelong offer nothing of value then I would certainly be on the phone, even North Melbourne or Richmond, two clubs with potential to grab a flag and in Vic, may appeal to PD instead of the PSD or ND where Carlton, Brisbane, Melbourne or GC look like the potential suitors.
