I think you might have misinterpreted the timings. Free Agency begins on the 9th and finishes on the 18th. There is a 3 day matching period limit, hence the matching period ends on 21st. This means if someone makes an offer on the 18th the club has 3 days to match hence matching period ends on 21st.

However if Dangerfield signs an offer sheet with Geelong on the 9th, Adelaide has up to 3 days to match (i.e. The 12th)
Oh i see ...it's 3 days from the offer date ...my bad

Cmon ....don't you know this industry is full of contradictions, hypocrisy, and lies ;):p
Of course it is, as is life. I just think that there are some double standards when it comes to player movement and the supporters reaction to it.

If people want to hate Danger because he left then that's fine but one day soon your club will recruit a player from another club because that said player wants to "go home". I promise you that AFC supporters will have no problems with it then.

Personally, I'd be much more comfortable with a player leaving my club to return back home than what I would be if he left for the sake of greed, or in other words, money.

In the end the money and "inducements" outside his salary will be way better at Geelong than what he could have made in Adelaide which I'm sure you are only too well aware of

Here are the indicative dates for the 2015 NAB AFL free agency and trade periods:

Friday October 9 - NAB AFL restricted free agency offer and unrestricted free agency period begins

Monday October 12, 10am - NAB AFL Trade Period begins

Sunday October 18, 5pm - Close of NAB AFL restricted free agency offer and unrestricted free agency period

Wednesday October 21 - NAB AFL restricted free agency matching offer three-day period ends

Thursday October 22, 2pm – NAB AFL Trade Period closes

Based on this timetable ...Geelong have one day after offer is matched by Adelaide to do a trade

Does anyone truly think it will get to this point ? .....IMO trade will be completed b4 October 18th
No RFA offer will be placed by Geelong because Adelaide have till one day b4 trade finishes to respond .....would kill off Henderson trade & delay all manor of trades by the Crows as well

No, basically offers can come through at anytime during that week, the one day trade scenario would only happen if a club put in a free agency offer on the last day and the other club decided at the 11th hour to match.

We're a fickle bunch. When Tippett left to "go home" we were ok with it... Until HOME became Sydney and they were paying a truck full. Then we called him $kirt.

You obviously missed the extra year of security. That was reportedly the main issue, Betts wanted a 4 year deal, we gave him that and also overpaid. Search the history, I disagreed with the overpayment against the general vibe. But the extra cash is by the by, it as the extra year he was after.

I don't really care for Danger's motivations, whatever it is these days. I've posted once only, today, comparing my forebears own experience with elite sport and living away from home. It's the first time I've thought of it. But overall, yeh, money I understand, going home is something I realised I struggled a bit more with, especially when taking into account the strong bonds forged within team sport systems.
The extra year or not, when you strip it back it still comes back to money.

So if Danger left for money and not to be closer to family, you'd be less angry about the situation? You'll have to forgive me, but I find that hard to believe.

Oh come on. He didn't change jack shit

He lied and then he lied again. He had 2 motivations
1. Go to club of his choosing
2. Not be hated for it

He has been trying to manipulate public opinion of his decision by trying out whatever reason cops least shit

He has used the family line and it hasn't been made things any easier by the sad passing of our coach.

If Phil Walsh hadn't been murdered, do you think people would be so accommodating taking the family as a legitimate excuse?

Patrick is all about Patrick and how he is seen by others. He doesn't want his goody two shoes image tarnished. This is my personal take on this and you can feel free to disagree but He has manipulated these whole events. Yes he has given his all but as I said Patrick does things for the benefit of Patrick.

All I want is a fair trade.

No what I disagree with is 1) wanting to play for a successful club and win a premiership and 2) being a one team player - that is what he was saying earlier in the year.

A few reasons.

Careers are short, I can understand why you would like to maximize your earnings. However you can always move home after your career.

Players enter a national competition knowing they can end up at 1 of 18 clubs scattered all over Australia. If you're not ok with being away from family, get a local job.

In today's age they have planes, trains and cars, not to mention phones and Skype. How bad could (worst case scenario) a three hour flight away from family be. Particularly when you're on the money a lot of these players are on. Clubs are very accommodating and compassionate. Communicate problems to your club and I would almost guarantee they will assist with issues. There's no legitimate reason to leave for it in my eyes.

Also in a compition that strives for equality, allowing players to move around at the drop of a hat, will ruin, if it's not already, the game we all love. It defeats the purpose of having a draft. Players leaving for the excuse of family, is a big part of the problem. They should never of entered a national compitition.

Personally, I would never leave a place I loved (like danger supposedly does) for anything other than money, even then it'd have to be big coin. His descision I do not understand and probably never will.
Then again, I would never accept a job that would take me away from family if I wasn't ok with it. Just seems stupid to me.

Tippett did make it known he didn't like adelaide (the state) though. Danger has never said anything other than 'I love the club'. Not to mention the success line he has used.

I agree, but it is still pretty obvious that he didn't leave Adelaide with money as his main priority though.

Does he have to wait until after trade week to take delivery of his new top of the range Ford???

Don't suppose he'll have to worry about furnishing his new home given the famed "generosity" of the Geelong traders towards Cats players especially a high profile one like PD??

I said that I agree. What more do you want?
