OK that's fine - I was just generating some conversation around a scenario that gets you your 2 x R1.

Remember one other thing. We could easily get Brisbane's pick 2 for less than what many posters are demanding (2 x R1 and a player).
Walker and our R1 and R2 would go close to getting that us pick. Carlton will take a KPP. Your move.
Picks are speculative. Dangerfield is proven elite. If we got pick 1 or 2 for danger id still feel a bit disappointed

Its only because Geelong could not match the offer from gold coast when Ablett did the bail...

Not being rude but geelong would of done the same if they had the coins spare
It wasn't really about having the coin to spare. The GC have/had an extra million in their cap, $9 million as opposed to $8 million other established clubs were allowed to pay their players at the time.

But also their list consisted mainly of rookies who get paid a pittance early in their careers so they had this huge amount of cap space that they decided to throw at gaj in a heavily front loaded contract.

Not to mention that the GC are financed by the AFL, in other words it wasn't their money that they were treating like confetti, there's no way that any club could compete when there's basically no accountability as to how monies are used.

ADELAIDE always planned to announce Patrick Dangerfield’s exit from the club today which coincided with the players starting their post-season holidays.

The Crows are adamant they did not bow to public pressure on Dangerfield’s future which has intensified every day since they bowed out of the AFL finals against Hawthorn on Friday night.

Despite speculation the club or the AFL wanted to delay official confirmation of his likely move to Geelong until after Saturday’s club best-and-fairest or Monday’s Brownlow Medal, The Advertiser understands the plan was to announce the news today after he told teammates.

It is believed Dangerfield informed the club before the finals of his decision to “exercise his rights under the AFL’s free agency rules to return home to Victoria” after 154 games in eight seasons with Adelaide.

You sure Dangerfield can go into the national draft?

and you can not trade PSD picks
Yeah that's the part I'm not sure about - I know you can't trade PSD picks either. Again not being a campaigner (well more than often ;) ) just running through all the scenarios.

Trading away assets to get pick 2 to draft Dangerfield at pick 2 in the draft. I mean I know you're trolling, but even for you, it's a pretty poor attempt.
No not all. Many Crows fans are demanding 2 x R1 and our ****. I'm stating that we could get away with paying less than that for a pick that will enable us to take Dangerfield.

Think you could run along and discuss all your ridiculous scenarios with your mates on your OWN board?

Don't agree with the first part .....what i do believe is that Danger believes in player over team & club

Not sure he bought into "team first"

Agree with this and think the best example is during the hawks game earlier in the year where he wanted to be a hero in thr centre square instead of following team structures and gave away two easy clearances and goals.

He's a sensational player but doesn't and I don't believe ever has been much of a team player. But he will make a hell of a difference to Geelongs midfield but I think we can still come out of this in a pretty good position

I wonder if our low draft age is part of the reason so many players want to go home, especially those who leave after 2 years.

That their image of "home" is the life they had when they were teenagers. I wonder if they get back and realise things have moved on and changed and life away wasn't that bad.

Perhaps a 4 or 5 year minimum first contract would help, not to lock people in but to make sure they/family/partners know it's likely they will have to leave home for their career, and growing up knowing this may help and to also encourage them to make a life for themselves in their new city.

To relate this to Dangerfield, he probably grew up with people telling him it's just two years if you don't like it you can come home, after a year and a half he's already thinking 'do I want to go home? Just one more contract and then I'll see how I feel'. If he had grown up knowing he would be away for 5 years and didn't have to think about it until he was 23 things might be different, maybe not.

It's not that so much it's the - offering him around to other clubs I don't like.

And your mob are demanding you get him for nothing.

We'll meet somewhere in the middle.

I have a feeling this is going to plan out far more boring than we are anticipating. Deals probably already negotiated. That's why the trading future picks rule has come in - because Crows and Cats went to the AFL together with the deal they'd agreed.

Why don't you make out you're Dangerfield and runaway now, thanks.

I'd be content with two 1st's and this years 3rd, that way we can use one of our 2 thirds to secure Hampton, who actually wants to come hear, rather than dragging away a geelong player kicking and screaming.

understand nobody could compete with the situation but are you sure Geelong (if they were in a situation to compete) would just lay flat after all those years of investment....

No doubt. I was replying to a poster who told me to get ****ed and stop trolling when I posited a scenario where you end up with 2 x R1 - 1 x R2 and we get Danger and spare change.
