I have a feeling another twist to the tale to play out. "Home to Victoria" puts 10 teams in play, Hawthorn and Collingwood right in the mix, with $$$, premiership window, and princes freeway to Moggs Creek on offer. Collingwood would be great for the Crows as IMO have a lot more to give ( trades and players).

The dust settled in this household around about the time Rory Sloane signed, it was patently obvious Dangerfield was gone then unless you were supreme optimists like some supporters.

I am thankful that this is now over with and we can get on with life. Yes, it didn't go our way this time, but as long as we are compensated fairly via Geelong trade, I'll be happy. Now we can focus on our loyal superstars and continue to build up our immense young talent.

Please believe me when i say not here to troll. Just wanted to say that the afl might have to bring something in place to even free agency up.

No team has felt the effects of free agency/expansion like the crows. Tippett ,gunston,davis,bock and now danger (the best of the lot). Imagine your side if those guys were still there. Very big accomplishment to get where you have cinsidering.

Not sure what cab be done but whether the afl introduce "franchise tags" like the nfl or an academy system for all clubs. Sorry if it sounds floggish coming from a swans supporter but its not good to see teams continually pilfered

The afl had the gall to harass Eddie at his grandfathers funeral because of Malthouses claims but Geelong can be working on this for over a year and it's "move along nothing to see here" just like when they were courting Boak blatantly

Agree but only a small difference - Judd could have gone to any number of clubs (despite nominating Carlton) and so the bidding war helped. I doubt there will be a bidding war here - although I hope there is! I think Carlton or Melbourne could really do with a player of the ilk of Patrick.

I take your point but once he nominates Geelong, like Judd did with Carlton, then it is up to them to make a suitable trade or risk losing him. It would certainly help our position if Brisbane had pick 1 but don't think that this is over the line for Geelong yet.

Seriously, it may be an option. You guys have been smashed, not sure what the afl can do but something needs to be done. I like the idea or academies, you develop players from your own state and yiu get to watch them flourish. All but rules out the go home factor.

As far as I can see this is exactly like the Judd deal if we match Geelongs offer. He then isn't a free agent, just a player who is uncontracted and wants to go home. If it was next year we would be powerless but this year we have every chance to play just as hard ball as West Coast did.

Geelong don't have pick 3, pick 20 and a highly rated junior key forward to give up like Carlton did. Carlton likely weren't planning on getting Judd for nothing either, as the mechanism to do so didn't exist.
