I accepted that he was probably going to leave. But I hate how he played it as such a big joke along the way as if he knew that is crows fans had nothing to worry about.

I wish him all the best but hope he never gets a premiership medal. He has been a great servant of the club and has been exciting to watch. We will miss him no doubt but don't think it will be as bad as we all think.

Can't wait to belt geelong at Adelaide oval next year.

Bye danger.
That's the worst bit

Patrick Gonnerfield? I'm finding this more funny than anything at the moment. I'm sure the anger and disappointment will settle in, but I'm just looking at what he's said. The smith Instagram, the constant "I haven't thought about it", taking us for fools. If he expects not to get booed, he's got another thing coming.

"Kurt Tippett likes this :thumbsu:"

I'll miss ya Patty :(

Hopefully our fans don't pull out the embarrassing "actually he's overrated and I never thought he was that good" act that always seems to happen in these situations. He's a gun and our midfield is going to suffer bigtime for his loss.

Fingers crossed we make the most of whatever we get in return! At least unlike the Tippett situation we should get something besides an ass reaming this time around.

Do we have the option of matching free agency offers, and then trading him? Surely the trade would get us more than the FA compo.

Time to see what the new administration does...
I think Fagan will be ruthless. This is his time to show us what he's got. He's been impressive thus far, but this is where he has a chance to shine. I am backing him and the administration in to get good value for him, and hopefully turn him leaving into a positive (like west coast with Judd).

Let's get this out of the way early in the thread.

Yes, we can offer to match the highest salary he's been offered. It is impossible at this stage for him to accept a free agency deal without us then having the option to match it.

At that point if he still chooses to leave, we can trade him, but only if all parties (us, the destination club, and Danger himself) agree to the terms of the trade.

If no trade can be agreed to and he still wants to leave, he goes into the draft (either ND or PSD) and we get nothing.

Going back, if we choose not to match the free agency contract, we then get a compensation pick from the AFL which at this stage appears likely to be directly after our first round pick.

It's too much to swallow to thank him for all his done right now (maybe in a few days... gotta let grief take its course) ....
but the positives I can look at, it's better for us to have leaders who's hearts are in it. If his isn't, then there's no doubt even on the smallest level, that his attitude would be holding us back.

Here's to some good trades, and a united 2016!!!!!!!!!!!! :thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:

I guess the first game next year will be against the Cats then.

Not happy that he has gone, But hold hope the club will turn this in to a positive through drafting.

Interesting that he wants to go to Melbourne??? Surely if it was Geelong he would have said Geelong !!! Things are starting to hot up. Maybe the money will talk.

He's not allowed to mention that he's going to Geelong as technically he not allowed to receive/accept any free agent offers until the free agent period starts.

It's all a charade because of the AFL rules.

Whilst it sucks for you now, who knows what might happen in the near future when you get compensated for losing Danger.

I vividly remember hearing the Judd news on the radio in 2007 while driving my car. Was gutted. The trade we did for him 8 years ago helped put the Eagles in the position that we have today.

Chins up.

*edit: come to think of it the similarities between Eagles 2007 and Crows 2015 are a bit scary. That year Mainwaring passed away, and the Eagles were knocked out of the finals in the semis. 2007 felt like rock bottom.

Free Agency didn't exist back then. If we could get a deal somewhat that somewhat resembles the market value of Dangerfield, I'd be ok, as while we can't directly replace Dangerfield (unless Crouch finally stops being injured), we could improve our overall side. Problem is, I see us getting sweet **** all.

All I can say is that Paddy is not this guy - http://gawker.com/pharmaceutical-greed-villain-martin-shkreli-will-fight-1732104723

I too will miss him playing for us, and while I am disappointed in his decision, it's his decision. We might love the idea of a club and the tribalness but it is a business and clubs get rid of players and players seek other opportunities elsewhere every year. The only thing I will say is Paddy needs to hand his 32 back asap.
