Because we are about to trade for Patrick Dangerfield. He has asked to leave Adelaide back to Victoria and Geelong are the front runners.

Low risk, high reward. Geelong want no negotiation at all, just accept the base rate of a compo pick. We would rather negotiate knowing there is no way Geelong would let him go to the PSD as they would almost certainly lose him, not to mention Patrick himself not allowing that to happen.
It is about us, we want the best possible price for a valuable commodity. Would you sell your car for way unders or hold out for a better price?

On the Danger situation I do sincerely hope you guys get a good enough deal for a player like Dangerfield.
Either at least 2 First Round Draft picks as compensation if you don't match (unlikely), or at least Cats First Rounders in 2015 & 2016 if you do match (more likely).
You guys will forever be my second team (Dad & I Cats fans, Mum & Bro Crows fans), wish you guys good luck this off-season & hope to see you guys in the finals again in 2016

as you may recall Judd went through a process and interviewed 3-4 clubs and nominated Hawthorn would not be a club that he would talk to, after those interviews he nominated Carlton s the club he wanted to join
Yes it did. Knew you would bring up any differences in the judd v danger deals. It was put here for a comparison with differences. The major factor is though you have to give up quality to get quality. Adelaide are losing pd. he is judd like. Be prepared to lose something you dont want to. That being your pick 9 this yr and your first next yr which are unknown commodities plus a player like murdoch.
I personally think wel meet somewhere in the middle. Judd got wc pick 3, kennedy and pick 21. Some draft picks end up being flops. Fact. Pd has stated that he wants adelaide not to be ripped off and a deal to be done.

Of course we wouldn't be happy. But we wouldn't be significantly more unhappy than if we only got a measly compo pick for a top 3 player while having to watch Geelong and their supporters gloating over their good fortune.

Unlikely but it seems a bit disingenuous to post that article with the pretence that the situations are identical.
what we put at risk is a loss of a compo pick so I am happy for the club to take a line in the sand approach and risk losing this pick
for your club your list profile is questionable, many supporters on your board said throughout the season the difference between getting Danger or not is significant and lets not forget the community expectations on the GFC to get this deal done, opposed to Adelaide supporters and members who are prepared to cop a compo pick loss than be insulted by a less than satisfactory trade.........
The issue for GFC is that the AFC has had a gut full of losing its stars who have all cited "Family reasons" and the cage has truly now been rattled and with stronger Administration led by Fages and Roo the GFC will have to pay a fair price
given where both clubs are at with their lists I honestly believe Geelong has more to lose than Adelaide
How about Geelong just deal fairly? Solves a lot of discussion.

OK we'll have to disagree on this one.
this either way Danger is gone and with that I can cop a Compo pick loss but I can't cop a trade that is not fair
however can Geelong supporters cop Danger going into the draft and ending up at another club? Given their community rally to tell Danger "we want you" I think their will be a membership meltdown if they did not secure Danger from this point
mate we already lost Danger, losing pick 15 in this draft means little
anyway it's a moot point anyway because what we do know is the AFC will trade hard, the GFC know this, Danger knows this and his Manager knows this
win-win, you get Danger and AFC receive a fair market price trade
so good luck with that
