That might be a fair call. I guess I ranked them in order of what they have done in their respective careers so far. Pendlebury is probably inferior to those guys now but bloody hell he is an amazing player at his best. Such poise and class with the ball. He is easily the best ball user out of those 4 players

What is he worth to trade?

Well let's just close the thread, the deals done.
That's just your anger talking not what's best for the club.
Geelong have already stated they are not prepared to lose 2 first round picks, you guys want 2 first round picks. 14 is there staring both clubs in the face that will solve everything. All trades I stated above are fair, there's no jade Rawlings pick 6 rubbish in there. That's just one example.
Are you more concerned about screwing geelong or getting the maximum for Adelaide? Rational, constructive, respectful, intelligent negotiation is what's needed not bitterness.
Lol, unfortunately the pissants on the geelong "total footy" bigfooty board don't get much sway in final trade negotiations.

Bitterness? It's called a fair trade. Danger is worth Pick 1 and pick 15 on the open market. 2 first rounders from Geelong is half that. It's not ideal for us but it's the minimum Geelong should be willing to give up. Your deal posted is bad for Adelaide because we wish to trade for other players, we're not the team gaining a superstar player, we shouldn't be expected to give up anything other than the player. Also, no where have Geelong said they aren't willing to give up two first rounders.

You don't seem to get it, dangers gone. You will take pick 9 if it comes down to it because pick 9 is better than 14. Geelong put that on the table and walk away, what is fagan and Adelaide going to do? walk away from pick 9 just to spite geelong? Net result Adelaide loose pick 9. Geelong net lose? nothing!! because they never had danger to start with and have a chance in the draft.
Or fagan, Adelaide and Geelong can come up with a trade that benefits BOTH clubs at much as possible.
Screwing geelong with a trade to weaken them is illogical, 16 other teams to worry about plus remember we finished 10th this year?

I'm not even going to bother trying with you. Two first rounders isn't screwing Geelong.

Im hoping Geelong havent made any commitment to PD or else it could get real tricky walking away?

Really? We're absolutely shafted there and you make out like bandits, while Brisbane do ok but not great. We lose Dangerfield for Aish, a second rounder and upgrades on some useless later picks. I think a three-way trade should involve Redden to us. I'm not super keen on Aish to be honest. I'd rather deal separately for him if we were interested.

As a matter of curiosity, what do you think Jansen's legitimate value is? Like what would you accept from Brisbane if you traded just him to them? I've never heard of him.
Agree

Pendles what would you give to get him to the cats?

That's a tough one given he is 28 next year. If he was 25 then he is easily worth two 1st round picks and a best 22 player I guess. To a club in a premiership window, even though he is 28 next year, he'd still be worth two 1st rounders imo. As we are not in our window anymore, I'd find it difficult to justify trading two 1st rounders for someone of that age. I think we will trade two 1st rounders for danger, but I doubt there will be a player involved personally. At 26 next year, he can still give us a solid 5-6 years service and perhaps our window might be open towards the end of his tenure with us?

Love how geelong posters think what, pick 9 and 14 are what we want when we talk about two first rounders? Dangerfield is worth a top 5 pick, and another pick preferably in the top 10. This compensation pick 14 is bordering on being a bloody 2nd round pick due to where we finished this year.

Pick 9 this year.
1st round pick next year.
Shuffling of later round picks this/next year if needed.

Can see it getting more involved than this depending on what other players the crows list manager wants, so a 3rd team could enter the trade potentially.

You poor bugger, you're getting screwed. Getting Dangerfield, a superstar of the comp, and getting him for massive unders, only having to give up 2 mid-late first rounders and an average player. That's horrible. I feel terrible for you .

Dangerfield is worth 2 top 5 picks, now get your sh*t together, realise you're getting a bargain, start the car and make out like bandits...

Do you seriously think geelong aren't going to try and minimise there loss to gain danger? That they don't care and just want to be fair? It's not the stock exchange or the petrol pump there's no fixed price.
Again your not thinking about Adelaide you're more worried about geelong. I get it, your all upset dangers left, your angry, you want someone to suffer like you all are. Getting the most out of Geelong seems to be fine for everyone, making them and their supporters unhappy as you all are. It's not going to happen unless you satisfy Geelong.
Adelaide can demand pick 9 that's it, it's not fair, I know this, but geelong has the power to do that.
Their not going to offer more to satisfy Adelaide when they don't have to.

What a load of boloney. Will you escort yourself out or do you need to be forced?

Thats fair two 1st rounders would have hurt you to say but youre honest. PD has stated he wants a fair trade, your answer is fair for sure. I would offer two firsts and probably a player on the list 25-35 for pendles the age is a concern, maybe Robbie Gray or Chad wingard would be worth two first and a player more so Gray. I would be happy for Adelaide to swap those picks for that quality, how many picks will you have before you get a champion.

Unfortunately you'll struggle to get much better than that, but it's still twice as good as the Hawks got for Franklin and better than just the compo pick.
HAWKS couldn't Match... jesus.

No one has matched because they either
1. Couldn't or
2. Didn't think the player was worth it.

So difference is. We match and get better than compo. Which is completely different to franklin too.

Can't help but think neither team has any real bargaining power here, nor does Paddy really. Someone's gonna blink first, can't see Adelaide getting his true value though. It's not like the Judd scenario.

Gonna be a looooong drawn out trade which all but eliminated the good feelings from last years trade and the cancelling game this season.

Fortunately it started late August so time shouldn't be a problem.

Mods, can we have an automatic ban for supporters (of any club) suggesting that we take #14 and then do a deal in favour of the Crows?
Pretty much.

If you're coming in here to propose an illegal deal, or tell us we'll take whatever shitty offer, don't expect to be posting in this thread long.

This is the key, because the so called compensation comes after your first pick, number 14 is clearly no where near what Dangerfield is worth. Compared to what Melbourne got for Frawley I think? Due to how crap they are, he was not worth losing pick 3 in the draft for.

So many people lack the ability to think in this place, so hung up on what has previously happened in relation to free agency without figuring out that due to being in the early stages of it, you can quite easily distinguish between the limited number of occasions it has come into play.

On this occasion, Dangerfield IS NOT BEING OFFERED A RIDICULOUS CONTRACT THAT IS UNABLE TO BE MATCHED!!!
Combine that with potential compenation for him being way under his market value, and the perfect storm has been created leading to a club matching for the first time (potentially anyway - we definitely have more reason to match than other clubs previously)

A local SA boy currently at Geelong is being nudged towards the door as part of the deal, Crows are keen, player is happy at Geelong so may need some convincing.
Not sure what else in the way of picks/players is being proposed but my guess is this may be sorted already if the both clubs have agreed on the player.

Ps: long time forum reader- 1st time poster.

Im a so happy this is happening now and not in 2 years.
We may not have gotten any compo the way AFL the is going.

So Geelong is forced into this weaker position. This is good for AFC and their other competitors.
PD is actually doing the right thing by AFC whether he wants to or not is another story.

Of course Adelaide won't get true value, but they'll do a lot better than solely Pick 14, which is what they would get, if in fact what you're saying is true. Of course Adelaide has bargaining power, that's why there are current negotiations and not just an acceptance of a compo pick. Jezuz, it's not hard.
