I'd fall off my chair if the AFL let that happen. They never play fast and loose with the rules and always come down hard on clubs to deter others. Imagine the precedent it would set. I'd almost make a ridiculous bet that it won't happen.

EDIT: Connors and IIRC Wells alluded that the compo pick could end up back at Geelong and they would be a lot more aware of negotiations than we would be.

If this masterstroke adds up to a 5 pick upgrade then WOW.

I'm gonna hold fire till the cards fall but I hope the club is ready for the fallout if this deal is limp wristed.

The main reason I'm against any compo-related side-trades, apart from the obvious dodginess of it (AFL approved or not), is that none of the hypothetical deals mentioned in here or in the media are any good for the AFC.

I don't want to do some small pick upgrade and irrelevant player swap. I want two first round picks (or player equivalent) without giving up any of our own.

Don't says 1st round pick in 2016. Wells put that off the table in the first 2mins. Only thing he was open to was our R1 pick for this year.

Why are we trying so hard to dream up rubbish using the compo pick? Geelong will be the ONLY winners out of that.

No other fair trade (enough to pass the AFL tests) will come close to bridging the gap in value in the Danger for 14 crap. And it's not even Geelong's 14!

Please AFC, forget the compo! 2 1sts is unders for Danger…it's the minimum bottom line. I'd like to add Gore to that equation to make it a little closer to fair.

I'd use it if we can then extract more from Geelong - split the AFL compo if you will.

Without compo, we will probably end up with two 1s round picks, both sourced from Geelong.

If we can use compo, I'd be pushing for two first rounders (one cats one afl) and a second/fringe player (cats).

Everyone wins- Adelaide get more than geelong would otherwise pay alone, and Cats end up paying less as total deal is propped up by compo pick.

Of course we'd run it by the AFL, and then they'd tell us it would be draft tampering, and then we wouldn't do it. Either way we wouldn't do it so it's an irrelevant discussion that keeps on bobbing up.

I must be much more of a cynic. This the same AFL that lies and rigs the system to suit its own agenda? Normally we cop it, but a clean transfer of Danger means no threat from AFLPA, which means the crows and AFL's interests align.

Like Stiffy, I'm not saying it will happen, but I won't be shocked to be sitting here if it did.

His problem is composure ....everything flat out ....he works on it & you can see he consciously trying to settle ...but then under pressure it goes belly up


Correct ......he doesn't bring team mates into the game ....he tries to win the game himself ...and he's very good at it



No he would have gone for goal ....and probably kicked it on most ocassions ......but Tex's play was team play perfection with better odds


At this stage Danger relies too heavily on his pace .....he has poor agility, no sidestep, so he needs pace to break away
Will be interesting when as with Judd his pace drops off ......IMO could be a great forward in latter years

He is no more going in the draft than I am sprouting wings and flying to the home opener next season. Biggest bunch of crappola I have heard from an agent's mouth in a long time--and I have heard those guys say plenty.

I would pay his "threat" as much attention as I would a gnat buzzing around.

Fair point. As much as we don't believe it, Mookay probably has the most "currency". The reality is we would be glad to be rid of his salary for the next three years.
