Yep and you'd think the lower clubs aren't maxing out their sal cap. So with the 5% saved from 2015 rolled into an extra 5% in 2016 they've got over $1m extra to spend and still go into 2017 even Stevens.

They have a supporter group who have been spoilt by success. They have had a slight drop off in performance and they are already losing money and asking the AFL for help. A continued period outside of the 8 with their financial commitment and they are in significant trouble.

Hence the reason they are trying to do this now when from a pure list management point they would be better banking their picks and getting PD as a free agent in two years for nothing which would give them a much better chance at a premiership.

Because Danger/Connors could choose which draft, and he's much more likely to get to Geelong through the ND. There's no upside for them in the PSD.

Agree. Having said he'd demand a one year deal for anyone other than geelong, and for the reasons you have stated, essendon is the only one I could see pulling the trigger.
