Only real bad miss was Fischer McAsey and as is well known the recruiting team were overruled by the coach with Jordan Gallucci's selection. Remember when there were some on this board that wanted Logan McDonald over Riley Thilthorpe too.

Was it GWS that traded down with us? I know they have no shortage of talent but they must be kicking themselves now to have traded out of the pick we used for Dan. Perhaps they also saw him as a key defender and thought that they didn’t need cover there?

Yes, and admittedy it's still early days, but so far it is not looking like working out for them. They gave up both the pick we used for Curtin, AND pick 18 (ended up with St Kilda who took Darcy Wilson who has played 37 games so far), and in return got Phoenix Gothard (0 games) and James Leake (3 games).

Just an all-time blunder of a live-trade.

Yep. Hamish has really done better lately.
Even some of the ones that have been in and out like Pedler, Cook, Nank etc are talented players who have a great future if it all clicks. The days of Galluci are over I hope.

From what I was told Wilson was our original choice with our original pick until we got wind that several clubs above us might be up for a deal that would put Curtin available to us.

I also heard from one of my GWV Rebels contacts who had heard from Darcy Wilson's father Mick who is the Murray Bushrangers talent boss that they were pretty sure Adelaide were going to take him. Then Curtin became available.

Same. Earlier this year I was of the opinion that we would need to replace him with Dyson Sharp to let him go, and while Sharp is excellent, he doesnt have the attributes that Curtin does.
Someone made a post on the main board that Curtin would be the best player in the AFL in a couple of years and I thought that was pretty premature, but he could well be one of the hardest to match up on players.

If he reaches his potential, he will be a 197cm, elite marking, breakaway speed, elite left foot kick that can play forward, mid, back and wing.

As perverse as it sounds, when he was caught in that 2 on 1 in the goal square yesterday and the WB player gave the free away- it was almost exciting seeing it was Curtin in that contest as opposed to anyone else. You just knew he was going to either neutralise or win that one.

Eveb when his output wasn’t great early on in the year, one of his crazy abilities was to somehow neutralise or win a 3-1 contest as the 1. Happened enough times that it stood out to me

Why did we not take Wilson with the Edwards pick, then? We specifically gave up a second-round pick to bring St Kilda into the three-way trade just to get one selection closer (18 into 17) and then chose Edwards the pick before St Kilda took Dawson.

If we were keen on Wilson, there was no need to give up the 2nd round pick.

Stkilda chose before us??? So did North, I'm sure at one point we thought holy hell we are gonna get Curtin and Wilson and then we thought Taylor Goad would be ours before North swooped in and we ended up with Edwards.

We traded the pick we had originally which was before Stkilda to GWS and moved back 2 spots behind.

Wilson was off the board before Edwards, are you insinuating I'm making up what I was told by a reliable contact, if so there's a couple of posters here on the board that I relayed what I'd been told to them at the time weeks out from the draft who can back that up.
