The former, both the Crouch boys were pin cushions trying to keep them on the field and ultimately it ****ed both players. No absolute guarantee earlier surgical intervention would have had better outcomes but it seems to be the Adelaide way.
That sucks

People have been complaining for years that we don't tackle well. I would think that wrestling and grappling is a very big part of that.
It’s not tacking, it’s wrestling with a bloke on the ground, grabbing parts of the body without a ball which would lead to free kicks in a game.

Why don’t we actually practise more tackling and trying to break tackles and disposing of the ball?

Imagine if they grabbed parts of the body that has a ball

Round 7-9 with no match fitness and conditioning.

He won't have much of an impact on the 2026 season unfortunately. Next man up but any other option doesn't even come close to what a fully fit and firing Curtin will have to offer. Big shame but 2027 Brownlow year sounds nice
Reckon around 2 games back in the sanfl & impact on the back half of the season.

It'll take him a few weeks to get going but to suggest he won't have much impact on this season is fairly hyperbolic.

If hes fit enough he comes straight back in.

Its not like its a 12 month injury, im not putting my Ferrari in the Commodore Cup.
Suggest you go back & review other players who have been out for 3 months...

This is nothing to do with class & all to do with match fitness!

5 players on the bench this year, you can afford to ease him in.

Im not worried in the slightest.

Izak Rankine wont have played a proper AFL game in 6 rounds either, maybe he can have a run through the 2s.

I assume they have factored a return to fitness in their return timeline

Didn't play our last 4 games either.

Getting your knickers in a knot over me wanting bring our unicorn straight back into the AFL side rather than wasting him in the 2s is not something id have expected from a well reason such as yourself.

Its not a stupid comparison, its an example of how stupid your idea is.
Thought it was 😉

Didn't think bringing Curtin back into the senior side on a 5 man bench would illicit such a negative response.

Some people dont understand you dont play your very best back in the 2s

I do t think it’s that dire

He’s had a great pre season to now
He’ll still be able to get in plenty of upper body cardio and strength work, will be running well before his return and strengthening of the leg/knee will be an essential part of his rehab to get back (it’s no like he’s off legs until that point)

I suspect he will play a couple in The SANFL if we do plan to bring him into afl as a mid so when he is picked it will come with some match fitness and confidence of tearing one apart there

It sucks but it’s not back to square 1 for him

(Think about Thilthorpe when he had that near season off, he came back menacing after much longer out and if we had him back like that from rd 7 we would have been very happy with his contribution to the season despite delayed start)

I’d agree if he was coming back into a role he had already thrived in

If he’s coming in as a cba mid i think a couple weeks to adjust to and dominate that role would serve him well

I’d rather that than rush him back lacking the confidence to play him in that role

The good thing with Dan is hes flexible in the positions he can play. You can ease him in as a deep forward/mid/bench rotation easily enough with a 5 man bench.

Playing him back in the 2s is a waste of time IMO. Now if he'd done his knee early in the pre season and missed the bulk of the conditioning work then yeah sure give him a week or 2.

But he hasn't.
