He'd be upset about leaving home, its only natural too. But he would be excited to join our list. Im sure his manager has explained the benefits to his family. Plus there are opportunities. Could end up playing round 1.

Year 4 not year 2 would be a more reasonable time frame. Especially as we're looking at a kid who didn't build his name as a dominant inside midfielder at the junior level.
He’s already 95kg, I don’t think you quite realize what a special talent this guy is. Will absolutely be a midfielder and he’s got the fitness and size for that to happen early in his career. Can imagine we get Dawson to mentor him.

Yup and that size is a strike against him becoming a midfielder seeing he was used as a swing man. After all, he is considerably bigger than his competition.

If you're not a dominant week-in-week-out inside midfielder in juniors (especially in the clearance game), you're not becoming a full time midfielder at AFL level in 2 years. Not to say Curtin won't, but it will be a slow burn if he does. There is also nothing wrong with 4 years, it's quite common even for stars.

I guess only time will tell us what happens! Just seriously excited to get such an elite talent through the door, club has done so well here

Welcome Daniel!

Sees himself as a bigger bodied midfielder, like Patrick Cripps.

STRENGTHS:

  • Aerial ability
  • Big game player
  • Skills
  • Composure
  • Size
  • Versatility

IMPROVEMENTS:

  • Durability
  • Ground balls

A proven big-game performer with class, poise and versatility, Curtin has all the tools to be an elite player at AFL level. Given this, it will be fascinating to see how he is utilised at the top level, with his profile giving him the scope to potentially play anywhere. He should fall inside the first six picks, with an even higher calling not off the cards, particularly with West Coast set to be a big player at the pointy end of the draft and North Melbourne potentially requiring key defensive depth. The man himself is not against moving interstate and sees himself as a midfielder in the AFL system.

Pick 8 Adelaide – Daniel Curtin

Key defender, Claremont, 197cm, 95kg
The pick that shaped the first round, with the Crows winning the race for GWS’ pick, as reported by this masthead. Curtin turned games as a defender and also played through the midfield and up forward this year. Also impressed in the WAFL late in the season and he gives Adelaide the key defender it needs.

Live trade

Crows get picks 8 and 17 from GWS in exchange for picks 11, 15 and a future second-round selection.
Adelaide has made a big live trade to swoop in on gun West Australian key defender Daniel Curtin.
After the first seven picks went as many predicted, the Crows made the huge trade to select the player claimed to be the best talent of WA in some years.
The trade saw the Crows trade two of its first round picks and a future second round selection to the Giants to jump ahead of Geelong and Essendon to select Curtin.
As the clock ticked closer to the number one pick being selected rival clubs believed the Crows had trumped the Eagles, Melbourne and Essendon for GWS’ first selection of the draft.
The Crows did more work on Curtin over the weekend as their bid to secure the Giants pick gathered momentum.

Oh absolutely, on paper, he looks a very serious prospect.

Even if we end up with a CHB/third tall, in time it could be one half of a downright filthy pairing with Worrell to play off Murray.

potentially our most elite player. yes i am excited. The fact Weagles were happy to give up a VERY likely top2-3 pick next year means we may have got the bargain of the century

When you see big game player as a strength it’s hard not to be excited
