Yer that was an insane performance but it isn't just a flash in the pan. He really has improved this year and has matured incredibly. Was a good ressies player last year and a good junior before that and he caught my eye every now and again but never seemed to 'come on' if you get my drift. But today, sheesh fair dinkum he was awesome, his contested marking, strong one hand grabs. Excellent stuff. Just needs a touch more pace, won't get them as easy on lead at AFL level. But to kick 14 goals at 19yo, you have to have some talent. Was in draft contention before this game, so now he will no doubt be on most clubs radars.

Mark Ducker actually. I dont think anyone would have picked that.

Hodges kicked 14+ a few times in 1990 on his way to the record. I reckon Fidge did as well.

What happen to Hodges?? Not much of an AFL career :) Mods was a better AFL player. What a star he became. He was my favourite Crows players. Entertaining and thrilling :)

Hodges and Modra actually worked pretty well together but Cornes had a pre-conceived notion that they couldn't so would often drag Hodges when he was starting to fire up during a game.

Not that it is the correct thread for it, but Nikki is right. They did work pretty well together on field, and off field they were best mates.

Hodges is still 2nd at the Crows in terms of goals per game.

In a nutshell – Tony Modra was entertaining and exciting and overall a brilliant performer for the AFC but Scott Hodges had more football talent.

Didn’t Ryan Fitzgerald kick 10 for South Adelaide in his one and only appearance after he came back from the Swans?

Thats Grumpy Old Man to you :p

Quit stealing my title

BTW, I agree, one great game doesn't make a great player. It's a good start, he seems to be one worth watching. Let's hope he turns out to be as good as the instant hype.
