All this bullshit about Jackson being smart is about as useful as the opinion that Aaron James was going to be the next Wayne Carey.

All that matters is that the dud should be dropped for being slow, being unskilled and being stupid.

Bull, he took the ball was tackled to the ground and just laid on it which gave the umpire all the ammo he needed to pay the free. In the very least he could made it look like he was trying to punch the ball out. If that had been him tackle Stevie Johnson you would have no problem with the free. Then he gets up gets involved in the play near the boundary and stabs a 20m kick straight over the line, that was just plain dumb:thumbsd:

I applaud him for having a go but his decision making is still that you would expect of a first year player not someone who has played 100+ games. When he plays his run with roles he gives away too many undisciplined frees which gives his opponent the ball which is the opposite of what he is trying to do. He gets Judd just about every time but Judd still manages to have a great game because he knows what Jacko is like and he knows his mental game is weak.

hindsight is a wonderful thing lucky for me i dont use it.
every yr i back up what i say with names and strategies.
had plenty of debate what we needed in 06 and who we should have taken. same for 07 and each preceding yr since.
in 06 i argued very hard that we needed to start building the spine and we needed to start on tall defenders. hence makenzie over edwards who i had seen a fair bit of. we didnt do it.
07 having failed in 06 to address kpd needs i insisted we use picks 18 and 19 on rance and pears and also wanted hooker with a later pick having seen plenty of all three boys. with mackenzie the yr before our kpd stocks would have been shorn up for yr to come. again we failed in this regard.

in 07 08 09 and 10 i insisted we should tank to maximise picks. wallace had got his two yrs with the older blokes and failed it was time to finish the clean out and rebuild.
07 we got ps 18 and traded pick 19 away what a shemozzle.we also traded out of pick 35 we traded away valuable picks when we should have been in full on rebuild not hindsight strongly argued at the time.

in 08 it was argued we should have been in full on development playing all the kids and most likely losing much like we did in 2010. again it didnt happen as per usual we won our fair share against poor sides and struggled against top 8 sides.if we had tanked we would have had picks 2 and 5 instead and got games into kids and found out if they can play or not.we ended up with pick 8.sheesh two of hartlett hurley nicnat rich yarran.

09 the inevitable happens and down we go because nothing sustainable has been put in place. again the tank was on and hotly debated we end up with pick 3 instead of having 2 and 4. take your pick sheesh martin butcher and bastinac at 18. or how about martin orabito and bastinac.

10 again it was argued after a certain point that we should put the que in the rack again we won just 6 games with the worst percentage in the country. how easy would it have been to rest players play kids and win just 4 games.how soon you forget the debates over tanking. it was argued we should activate the tambling pick as well sheesh wce priority pick netted them darling. we could have walked away with nd 4 gaff. ps 26 lycett. cs 28 batchelor, nd 30 parker/horlin-smith.

you blokes have a cheek you get on here debate at the time aginst all kinds of suggestions and then when things change to suit you throw up oh its wonderful in hindsight.
i dont argue with hindsight i argue over what i have constantly said and it doesnt change.
i can categorically state if i had been in charge of the list since 06 we would be a top 4 side right now. i say this in all humbleness and to make the point if a rank amateur like me can get most things right in this area what the hell are the club doing. i say this because it is a bit rich when posters throw up the old great in hindsight comments without even taking into account what has long been argued and what was said when events occured.

list deficiencies are easy to see so is the number of players who have too many weaknesses. its these things that i primarily come on here and debate i not only debate them i give reasons why and i come up with ideas of how we should go about it. dont give me the hindsight b/s.

take a look at the title of this thread. how long have some of us been arguing this bloke is below standard it has never changed. ive argued the exact same things about him for what 4 or 5 yrs now and i havent changed because the player is the same. he would have been gone at the end of 07 and i would have either found a player to replace him or turned over another couple in an attempt to improve.
 
Hindsight indeed. Seriously started to question Jackson in 2007, admittedly he had a serviceable 2008 with a couple notweworthy performances, but only in so far as that's when I thought his trade value would be at it's highest and we should cash in before he inevitably reverts to type. He & Tuck used to have 25+ possession games nearly every week because opposition's basically wanted them to. It was blatantly obvious by 2009 that Jackson was in fact rubbish. Not all of us needed him to reach the Oakley-Nicholls level of obvious that he's at now to be able to tell.

Agree. Cannot believe anyone would actually attempt to pass off fantasy football stats as a valid point in a serious debate.

I would have thought more, he'd have a piece of cake on the plate, he would offer it to someone, say Cotch, only to hold on to the plate of cake until someone comes from behind to take the cake away from him in a holding the cake decision.:(

It might be because he is one of the most natural athletes in sport.. He left rugby league as the best player in his position in the world.. Then went and played rugby union at a high level and was tearing it an new arseh*le and could have eventually played for the wallabies..
Also known as one of the most professional players in any change room in regards to preparation and application..
