Someone closer to the Swans (districts, I mean) can tell us more but wasn't the deal with Lewis not playing WAFL earlier the fact that he didn't want to leave his people in Bunbury.

I assume his family moved with him to Sydney but I wouldn't be surprised if he wasn't liking it there and he's becoming cheaper and cheaper to trade for.

in saying what i said before you'd still take jetta at the club for the right price... especially if he got his kicking under control. he'd be absolute top draw.

we're not tradiotionally big traders, but for the right price you should always be at least enquiring about quality players...

and over the last two decades the amount of player movement within the AFL has been much lower than other professional copmetitions across the world... which is a good thing, but with the advent of free agency i think we can all see that there will be a lot more player movement.

bloody swans and pies, stealing jetta and krakouer off us.

although I shall forget about this if we can get the improvement out of masten that we all want - might not be much time for him to do so this season unfortunately.

We do know we made a big money offer to Daniel Wells so the money is there and we are after someone in the near future. Daniel Rich isnt going to be the best player out of all the young W.A boys around but he will be the easiest to get. Brisbane have no money, no future and no prospects. Gold Coast atleast have money and a future to offer. Brisbane would also be more willing to trade for a rebuild. My offer would be something like

Ebert + 1st rounder + 3rd round pick

for

Rich + 4th rounder

This years draft blows so im happy to trade out of it altogether and just use late picks on mature aged players.

Swallow will never come to WCE so forget about him.

I'd say we would have a decent chance of luring Bennell and Matera back home, the two year contracts they signed will be over soonish :). Does anyone know what Materas contact status is, this would be he's second season on there list right, is it up at the end of this year.

I don't see us getting Yarran as Carlton would overvalue him and play hard ball.

Jetta would come cheap as far as wages were concerned but Sydney would not let him leave for nothing. (contract status).

I already have Rich penciled in our starting 22 come 2012. If we win another 6 games at least we will be looking at a pick closer to 20 which will be enough to get him as Brisbane will not risk losing him for nothing maybe have to throw in a fringe player.

Nah, use Ebert as trade bait with one of the Adelaide clubs, they'll pay overs to get him.

Why no Swallow? Where will he go instead?

Brisbane having a poor year will keep Rich's trade value down, hopefully.

If ebert goes anywhere i'll be pissed. The only way i would be losing ebert to gain rich would be in a direct swap as unlike a lot of others on this board i actually highly rate him as a player. Quite a few problems with his kicking but seems to be getting better and a lot of it is in his head rather than in his action.

If and its a gigantic if, but if we continue the way we are going pick 18-20 odd will be nowhere near enough to secure rich. It will take 2 picks in that range at the least imo.

I really like Ebert as a forward and would hate yo lose him.

Would love Rich but I am not keen on flogging off our youngsters.

Fine with picks though, but gee Brisbane would be in dire straights if they lose Rich in at the end of the year.

Tell me, what does it say about the AFL's expansion policy if GC start to gain traction but Brisbane go belly up?

I think people are too quick to want to give up guys like Ebert faced with the prospect of getting an another unproven but very promising youngster.

Having said that, the idea of having Rich in the side is drool-worthy.

I don't want us to get rid of Ebert, I like him too.

But if we do trade him, do it with the power or crows.

all the more reason to trade him whilst his value is high ;)

yeah not real clever  give up good young players who are starting to show promise, just for the hell of it.
I understand you have to give up something good to get something good so i wouldnt be disapointed in a ebert for rich deal, but would still be happy if west coast turned down brisbane asking for ebert for rich as i think eberts scope for improvement is probabley greater than rich's and could still end up the bettter player out of the two in the future.

Although I championed the cause for Ebert to be traded I can now see his value as a HFF.

Just offer Pick 18, it will still be better than any compensation they receive from the AFL. Add in Stevenson for the lulz.

Only if they throw Banfield in with Rich.:p
