The talk seems to be that the committee see Daniher as the preferred option.
Spare me please.
Nice guy, well organised, doesn't seem to make the right moves at the right time on game day...sound familiar.
Daniher is more of the same and is not going to take us anywhere.

What talk?

Our coach in 2008 will be either Daniher, Harvey, Sumich or Connolly. There are 2 or 3 better candidates, but appointing one of Daniher, Sumich, Connolly or Harvey is the easy option.

I think it'll either be Harvey or CC. That's the way I see it panning out.

6 out of 10 years in the finals will do me...1 Grand final appearance. Got the best out of the Wiz.

Not totally against him....Sheedy preferred option so long as rob Shaw & Mark Harvey stick around

5 out of 10 finals appearances would be average. 6 is slightly better than average. hardly super coach stats

Them both being nice guys is the only similarities I can see..

Most of the Melbourne midfielders are outside players who run forward of the ball and like to play the game on their terms, a lot like ours. McLean is far and away their best ball winner and he's just out of his teens.

There is a massive difference between their best and worst, but instead of being up and down in one season like us they seem to have a great year, then a shocking one, then a good year etc etc.

He struggles on game day, an area which Connolly has improved in.

Today, my preference for next year is Laidley.
I've no problem with Daniher though, if Deano hops back with the roos then Neale would be my next choice.

Ps. As of today i'm off the bus. :(:(

I agree.

He has turned water into wine.

im 100% sure CC will be coach in 2007 ;)

It's not out of the question. If we lose to the crows then win 5 of our last 6 we'll finish 11-11. The club will say that because we finished the season so well we have faith in Chris Connolly carrying this form into 2008.

was just pointing out this year is 2007

I believe the sub committee setup to overview the appointment of the coaching position is "Schwab, Buddgie and Ben Allen". Does anyone here think that the make up of the committee is a little odd? Since when has a members elected director had such a significant role in selecting and or recommending our next coach? How would the numbers stack up? Are they tilted towards change or the status quo? Anyone like to comment!!

Same - I think Laidley has gotten the Roos playing to their potential. Good disciplinarian and very astute on match day....

As much as id like to get Laidley here to Fremantle I cannot see him leaving the Kangaroos. Hearing him speak yesterday he just loves that club, has a lot of passion for what he does. He was a premiership player with the roos, has a lot of history there.

We need someone like him though. Someone who believes in the playing group, someone who plays the playing group in the correct positions, dont put backman into the forward line and vice versa, be proactive not reactive, coach your own way dont listen to the media, be able to make the hard calls like dropping favourite sons for poor form no matter the reputation.

Last but not least

Have a game plan FFS.

What about Germo - he is about as hard as it gets!

But can he coach? Many say he underachieved with Subi - possibly the best and most dominant WAFL side of the past 20 years...

IP since I have lived in Vic I only really kept up with the Black Ducks - what was the form line of Subi like when Germo was at the helm?

Virtually unbeatable - he got them 2 premierships in 4 years, a r/u and a PF. Looks pretty good when all is considered, but outside of finals they probably lost no more than about 10 H&A games during this time, and were premiership favourites each year...

Still not a bad effort - but there is talk they underchieved.

His time at Peel was like everyone else's time at Peel - they sucked. ;)

You're questioning Ben Allan's credentials to be on the selection committee because he is member elected? Que?

Is saying the selection committeee is "little" are you sledging on Budgie?

Even the Board doesn't decide in the end. They only recommend the coach to the WAFC. The sub-committee are the filtering process.

I'm stoked that Ben Allan will be involved, I can't think of a Fremantle supporter who is in a better position to pass judgement on any of the possible candidates. Aslong as Schwab doesn't have any more life long friends looking for a senior coaching job I have faith that they'll get the job done.

Laidley or Pagan would improve Belly's chances of playing on since he has links to both.
