Player Watch Darcy Cameron

Max King’s output was kind of what we could expect from Cox. Admittedly King didn’t smash it but he popped up and did his bit. (He’ll obviously develop). Darcy wasn’t near King’s level yesterday. I’m hopeful Darcy will develop but he does seem to be out of his depth as a key forward.

Me too. Cameron looked good hitting up high against the Tigers and it forces WCE to question their match ups, as they'd prefer Barrass on Cameron and Gov on Mihocek, but would also prefer Gov at CHB. I would have played Cox against them, because it would have worried them more. Despite his weaknesses, teams aren't willing to sag off Cox and let him run and jump at it. Hopefully Cameron can do a couple of good things early and get them to treat him like Cox and thus weaken their intercept game.

I would have played cox too for that very reason u said, and l would have played him at chf to get him in the game and give him some space he needs to lead into.

It’s not about messing with him, but making wc defenders accountable. If we don’t they will just zone off and intercept every footy kicked their way.

Mihocek is our only conventional forward. He makes his man accountable.
WC will have to devote at least one tall to Cox.
If you want to upset WC rebound I would move Crisp forward and have him tag McGovern.

As far as l know cox is not playing, Cameron is, and if Cameron is the deep forward and does not get to dangerous positions they will zone off him.
WIth mihocek we know he will and they cannot.. don’t need to tag anyone if the forwards get into dangerous spots and make the defenders accountable

I reckon Maxy and Mal Michael, (even though his claim to fame was at another club) might give him a run for his money though.

Toovey became a bloody good defender.
Lumumba could play on a range of forwards.
MacAffer was a solid forward and post-injury, nearly the league’s best tagger.
I reckon Maxy would have to be the winner though.

He's in the conversation but there are a few. Best rookie is subjective but what he has achieved is very impressive, that's undeniable

He came across as a very nice guy when I met him, humble and a real club man.

A lukewarm performance will continue the Cameron vs Cox debate. The position is there to be won, let’s hope that’s the case rather than changes because poor form loses the position.

Gov does zone off him. Intercepts, but Mihocek always gets shots at goal. For some reason, WCE are the only team he's been inefficient against.

Probably right. But finding defenders is easier than finding a quality CHF on the rookie list.
