I hope we can trial Cox and Cameron together in round one but with the likes of Crozier, Daniel, Johannisen and Richards owning great dash out of defensive 50 for the Dogs, I reckon it's too much a risk to run with the two. If it comes down to one or the other - who gets picked?
It's got to be one or the other. We can't play both men and Grundy - surely not?

If he can put together a good showing in the final Marsh series game quite possibly. Bucks has shown a penchant for taking pre-season form into consideration for the Round 1 team (Corey Gault lol)

It'd be a nice story for him if he works his way into the 22; being a castoff from Sydney for practically peanuts. And figure with what he cost us to get him, any game he plays at the AFL level is a win in itself isn't it?

Is there any chance we see him in Rd 1?

Based on The Gov’s post on the training thread it would appear unlikely. Forward entry drill based around Cox. Don’t think all of Cox, Grundy, Checkers and Cameron would be the way they go, particularly against the fast bebounding dogs, and I can’t see Checkers missing out.

I agree - not likely to see him early, but gosh it's nice to have a capable backup if one of Cox or (Eddie forbid) Grundy gets a niggle after god knows how long.

Even if Checkers misses I don't think Cameron would be the right "in", as it would leave us too top heavy - Checkers is a bit of a glue guy who provides both a hit up target and takes marks as well as applying pressure and getting ground balls.

As a forward or ruck, or both

Both.

Did well in then Ruck and was a Marking Machine around the Ground.

Though could kicked better from Set Shots

To have a Cox in front of a Camer,on is likely the better way to go.
then we get the full picture of where it’s at.

Really liking this bloke.
I think we have scored a win with this bloke,he has come in and immediately put Cox under more pressure which I see as a good result for the future for 2 reasons.
A)Cox has to performed to a reasonable level week in week out no more going missing for weeks at a time.

B)If Mason demands too much money on his current level of output we can show we have other options aside from him,I would like to see Cameron given a chance early to see how he goes and also to reward the effort he is putting in since joining the club.

I play him RD 1 ahead of Cox vs Dogs
Suggest that won’t happen.

Cox will be given first crack.

cameron will need to continue working hard in front of goal in early seconds games and succeed with a strong body of work to push Cox out.

that’s my take, Cox has first dibs.

But he’s on notice.

Cox was on notice from the day we recruited Cameron and he knows it too, although Cox probably will get first crack unless he maintains a consistent performance he will get dropped unlike last year.

Be very interesting to see how the Dogies structure up. They will also have Wood and appear keen to play 3 of Keath, Cordy, Young, Gardner, and Trengove so they might not be able to fit all those 4 players. Young might be used forward if Naughton doesn't get up.

We actually have someone to take his Spot know which we lacked last few years

Still he is more of a ruckman than a forward much like Cox we need to find a forward who can ruck a little bit as opposed to trying to teach a ruckman to play forward.

That’s no disrespect towards Cameron either. I think he has good traits and could easily play as a starting ruckman in the AFL, just like I think Cox is far better suited to playing in the ruck

We don't have any Forwards that can Ruck. We just have Rucks that can play Forward

They're not too common and the abolition of the 3rd man up and more recent ruck changes make's their ruck work all that more critical.

Richmond - be hoping 1 of Chol, Balta, Coleman-Jones or Nyuon develop into the role.

Carlton - Casboult their best option but ruckwork is not overly flash. The remainder of their tall KP types seem more suited to defense than forward with the exception of McKay.

Doggies - Trengove or Bruce and neither inspire in the ruck.

Bombers - Daniher can play the role but who knows if he'll get back on the park. McKernan currently their best option but very hot & cold.

Freo - With Lobb and to a lesser extent Tabener they've got pretty coverage but with the loss of Hogan can they afford to lose Lobb from F50?

Crows - with Jenkins departing, they'll be hoping 1 of Frampton or Himmelberg can develop their ruck craft.

Swans - Reid their best exponent but like his brother struggles to get on the park. Aliir shows very good ruck potentail, just not sure they can afford to lose him from defense.

GCS - Wright and Day hardly inspire. I'd probably prefer day but he's another of the fragile types.

Port - Dixon very good but only used sparingly and another proving fragile over recent seasons. Ladhams may develop in both roles and they've added Buzza.

GWS - Keeffe is probably their best option.

Cats - have quite a few options and added Jenkins who'd obviously be the pick of them. Ratugolea shows real promise and could end up being the best in the league.

North - Brown their best option. Be sweating on a few of their developing KP types.

Saints - added Patty Ryder so they've got a good one, but not a lot of depth.

Weagles - Nic Nat and Vardy both very good in the role.

Dees - tried to develop Pruess in the role but he's pretty ordinary as a forward.

Hawks - Big Boy is probably their best but they seem determined to turn him into a defender and their next best option (Ceglar) into their No1 ruck. Will watch with interest how that works.

Bears - Big Oscar might well be vying with Ratugolea as the leagues best in a few years.
