I don’t get all the bad posts about this guy. Cost us nothing. Big body and mobile. Can play a role. Averaging nearly two contested marks a game

Not every player on the list has to play 100 games to be of value to the club
The hate prior to last night was off the charts for a bloke who’d played perhaps 4 games, and half of them were quite good. You’d think he was shagging COVID patients at the Stamford Plaza or something.

I know he is older but look at him compared to Marshall from Port, Allen from WC, I would say he had the much better game.

Sometimes these blokes take time you can't teach that type of mark.

I think Bucks summed it up, "he's a ruckman"...if he plays that role with Grundy atm on limited minutes then he's a worthy competitor. He's NOT a forward though where he had been tried earlier in the year. Lots of Collingwood players get played out of their "best positions" for some reason? He showed last night where he is at his best.

Agree, needs to be played as 2nd ruck with time spent between the arc providing a kick forward or behind the ball.

He moves well.

All of a sudden we are tall, had 5 players over 200cm last night.

Played his role, helped work NN over, his contested marks were telling. Need him to be playing more than 46% game time if he’s going to maintain his spot against the Cats who don’t have a Nic Nat to counter.

This.
He is a ruckman, pure and simple

This lad can hold his head up very high, enormous challenge, immense pressure, whipping boy from his own support base, up against the best in the game right now -on his home patch, in a final- and Cameron after only a handful of games himself. And he just went out and gave his all and did a job, admirably. Well done Cameron, may you go on and grow as a player from here.

Well done Bux too for backing his man in and giving him a chance, enormous risk but we won the day.

I think because the coaching tried using him as an alternative rather than as a backup
He came into the side when Mason was out BTW.
Nice to know we’ve got a ruckman who can go forward now.

Really changed my mind about him with that game. That last ruck contest was shaping as a nightmare: the best ruck in the league (albeit a little fatigued) who has already belted us for around six goals straight out of the centre vs...who? I expected Grundy to be there but "Oh noes its the spud newb I don't like!" (mind you that's forgetting that he'd already done a good job in his short stints so far, i9 have just not enjoyed his forward work but you know I was a beer or two in at this stage)... and he halves the contest in the air, and gets hands to ball on the deck. Did his job, didn't wilt under extreme heat, and part of the win, not part of the problem.

As many point out he's no forward, but looks like a ruckman. Right now we have a really fine ruck division, Grundy is still the best footballer among the top ruckmen (he's not the best at rucking, but the best player among the rucks if that makes sense) Cox is good for short stints and Cameron and Lynch are both late developing players with value and potential. Interestingly we were beaten (just) on the night but the other great ruck division, NicNat and Oscar Allen (more a swingman) are a fine combo and I think they still have Hickey in the wings.

Came in R2 for Cox (omitted).
Came in R8 for De Goey (injured).
Came in R11 for Ben Reid (managed).

Seems like the only time he came in for someone that wasn't due to injuries (before the WC final) was Cox, who was omitted. Hence why it might have seemed to some that the club viewed him as an alternative

Cox is still our best tap ruckman, whilst a fully fit Grundy will presumably resume his old patterns of 90 percent game time in 2021.

Cameron as a specialist ruckman has proven he can be a good backup. Superb coaching and selection by the club to sacrifice a bench rotation by playing two specialist rucks. But is it a workable structure on a permanent basis?

Will be interesting to see longer term if he can force his way into the side as a permanent fixture. I think he will struggle just for team structure reasons unless he improves as a key position player, which he might be able to achieve. He’s a good mark and kick, which helps!

That last ruck contest - I don’t think I’ll ever forget it. Very brave by Bucks, and Cameron just did what he had to do.
