Watching fogarry in the sanfl, he plays lynchs roll more than say walker of Jenkins, that's when he's not played down back.

Will be interesting to see him bring back to the biff to opposition midfielders gut running the wing, when he ventures up there.

It seemed that when we are zoned in the oppositions half, fogarry would come up and play on the outside of stoppages.

A few will get crashed and banged.

Enjoy

By the way, do any of the 'but muh structure' ramblers want to come in and explain this?

I thought it was an absolute, that second ruck? Never could we consider not having a tall forward to play it...
Andy Otten's role?

He is not really an Interceptor.

We are still having a second Ruck.
I can't think of any other reason why he us in the side.

A sane head in defence?

When I watch Luke Hodge play I often wonder why Adelaide's defence doesn't have a similar level of experience and direction. Perhaps they've been playing together long enough they don't need that level of onfield coaching?

The way he practically strutted to 55m and launched it was utterly joyful to watch. One of the few highlights of a dire game.

Look I’m no genius or afc coach, but I figure playing him in the afl in the forward line will develop him much more than in defence in the Sanfl. It’s crazy talk I know.

Anyone notice that when asked about Fog in his post game interview Tex said “he’ll be a gun for this club for the next 10 years”

Tex loves the Fog.

Same as Betts loves Stengle.

Our club has a particular thing about not letting players who might develop chemistry doing it.

We can't have any passion in the way we play. We must be well drilled robots executing our plans to perfection every time

Interview with Fog after the game. He said that Tex has taken him under his wing, teaching him a lot and inviting him out to social events as well to develop him further

Also said that he’d learnt a lot playing in defence and from Talia Hartigan and Otten about what defenders don’t like etc, which he’s added to his “forward craft”

It also felt the players grew confidence after seeing that sort of magic moment from a young guy.

The last paragraph, funny he's basically repeating exactly what the coaching staff have said about why Fog was tried in SANFL defence. This is not a new concept, young players are tried in various positions to allow them to develop an all-round attacking/defensive mindset.

That 60m long bomb tonight...I still have some muscle twitches thinking about it...

Imagine being a younger player with those morons Burton and Campo running the show. Would knock the motivation out of you.

The other good thing about it was that Murphy (I think) was wide open and calling for the ball in the 50, but Fog had the confidence to ignore him and go bang for goal

Love it
That play right there tells you he's got the natural forward instinct. Fog's thinking "I'm the true forward in this chain, Murphy boy!"

My thoughts exactly. I'm so sick of us chipping it around to the person who's a few metres closer to goal and turning it over. If you're a forward and the shot is there to be had, take it.

Sometimes you've just got to lick the stamp and send it. - Daniel Ricciardo

Haha great saying

And I’m also ok with the idea that he probably thought to himself “I kick this goal, I stay in the team”

May as well go back to passion then, because the robot bit isn't working.

I don't believe that though, it's just hard to play with passion when your playing so poorly. Besides, I highly doubt that's any form of instruction from a coach.

I don't know how many shots on goal we gave up because of this bullshit.
Lynch, my god.

"I know, it will fool everybody if I chip it to that guy who is 5m closer to goal than me!"
*20m kick*
"Oh yeah, defenders."

At least his trade value will have marginally increased from this game.. so when he inevitably asks to get out for better opportunity we don't get quite so shafted.

He’s one of those guys who just looks like he belongs. From day one he had a Carey-esque strut, an air of supreme confidence, a presence in the contest.

To have wasted that in the SANFL all year as we scramble for the prestigious prize of eighth ****ing spot is a crime against humanity. That coaching group has to be held accountable for that. Every single one of them.

They won’t be.
