I doubt they can coexist. It will be one or the other with Witts also getting plenty of games. Howe also plays tall and Reid is also a chance to play forward. White may start the year ahead of Moore but it wont last long.

Except in the second instance he had worked his arse off to actually lose his opponent. It wasn't as if his opponent had left him alone, he was still being chased back down the ground. Saying he had no opponent is an insult to the kid, because he did have one, he had just been beaten so badly Darcy looked as if he was on his own.

Agree to disagree. Was as much a lack of respect by an opponent for a kid who hadn't had any impact at senior level and next to none at VFL level. Won't get the same level of latitude in 2016.

Reid is most likely going to play back, If he plays forward that's great but Buckley said he'd play down back and Reid said he wants to play down back.

As for Howe, he can play tall but I'd rather him play a running role, he hasn't got the the one on one contested marking ability of a key forward.

For mine its Witts v White. Witts has to show he can mark the footy and have a more consistent impact up forward otherwise the opposition will just rebound on him and until he shows that White's ahead.

I agree, what more with the removal of the sub rule players have to be able to play 4 quarters of football at high intensity. I don't think Witts is capable of doing that as the number 2 ruckman, which puts White ahead of him.

Witts will prove to be a better ruckman than White, and hopefully improved on last year as a forward to become a bit of a target at times
Moore will prove to be a better forward and all round player than White, and the equal as a ruckman although the club may wish to protect him from too much grunt work so early in his career.
Howe and Reid may be better "third forward" options than White.
Cloke is an automatic selection
Grundy is an automatic selection but may get rested from time to time. Like Witts I also expect him to be a forward target like Jolly was.

White will get games purely on a roster/horses for course basis but I cant honestly see him as a permanent best 22.

I think in 10 years time we'll be saying both Moore and Hogan had great careers. But the journey there is going to be an interesting comparison.

I for one hope we won't be using past tense for Moore in 10 years time.

As for De Goey. Of those who will still be playing when he is developed, Fyfe, Pendlebury, Dangerfield, J.Selwood, Gray, Rockliff and Hannebery all are better and will still be playing. Ablett and Swan are better and surely be replaced by other younger mids coming through.

Very surprised to see Rockliff in that list.

i agree that vfl is a great training ground for young players however imo playing at a higher level is more beneficial (if the player is up to it), its what gives clubs in footballing states an advantage over the qld and nsw teams. adjusting to pace of the game, playing against top quality defenders and learning what is required as well as learning first hand from cloke.

In contested marking sure, but I think Darcy is there to teach Trav how to kick straight.

I honestly can't see Moore as being the best key forward of his generation, but if he is somewhere in-between Petrie and Roughead in terms of talent and output, he'll be fantastic for us. Have every hope he will reach great heights with us.

Its stupid, He's a 3rd tall, Cloke/Moore/White. Just go watch his GOLD COAST game where yeah they had shit defenders but thats what usually the 3rd Defender is, Medium def.

darcy has great talent. can play forward or back in key posts if needed, but please give him time and don't over rate him yet
till he starts to preform at a high level. he has just started his career.
next year is when he will become consistent as a player as he gains more strength and experience.
this year he will be up and down in every game and in games, some games he be very good and others wont be sighted
but when he starts putting it together week in week out then we will see how good he will be
we just got to enjoy the ride

Being fitter and stronger doesn't help with a players on field assertiveness, but as you said we'll see.

Yes I think Reid will go to defence because he was so good there. But can you imagine a forward line of Cloke, Reid, Moore, Howe, Fasolo, Elliot - all good in the air. That would be a match-up nightmare assuming we could hold up in defence without Reid.
