Congratulations must go to Darryl on a great career so far.

I think I heard he is only the 4th Aboriginal player to make the mark, that is one hell of an achievement for the man who has thrilled us since his first touch in the seniors.

To my Birthday buddy Magic Whitey ... Congratulations on the 250th. Fantastic effort.

Great watching you over the years, hope there's a couple more seasons left in the tank. :)

An article in The Age says that White and Keating started at the club in the same year.

White 250 games
Keating 110??(from memory) I find it baffling that a bloke that spends more than half of his career injured is still on the the list, as well as being in the top 10 best paid players at the club. (amazing)
Voss and Heart also started in the same year.

"They said you'd never make it
But finally you came through,
DJ you're a champion
And this Swan's made for you!"

I wish Whitey all the best for his 250th, ALWAYS enjoyed watching him play, and I hope we'll also get to celebrate his 300th, would be a fitting milestone for a true champion. :D

And yeah, belting Port would be a nice tribute, and also just lots of fun! :p

think his first game was against the Roys wasn't it - goal of the year with first goal in league footy...

what I like about Whitey is when he takes a mark and he holds up the ball in one hand - not a sign of arrogance I don't think, more a sign of "just in case the umps don't believe I got myself into the contortionist position and flew from no where to grab it I better hold it up so they can see I've still got hold of the footy".

Well done DJ. He wears his heart on his sleeve(maybe that's why he wears that long sleeve jumper) Always entertaining,he has had to plug many holes over the years but you can do that if you have all that skill and class. I did have a laugh that he had a go at Brennan for holding the ball above his head after taking a mark on the weekend. Darrly made an artform out of it! Enjoyed watching him play everyone of those 249 games. We have done alright with our players from the Territory over the years.

Young Brennan has infringed on Whitey's trademark "hand in air with ball in grip".
I assume that Darryl has not sought patent rights on the move.
Had he done so, every time young Brennan copies the move royalty payments would be due to him. As Brennan has a 15 year career ahead of him Whitey would have been a rich man.
Ah well another opportunity goes begging!

Well done DJ White on a magnificent achievement.

Saw a piece on Fox Footy Channel last night.......apparantly he was such a hothead, rogue and "loose cannon" in his younger days that his school refused to pick him in their footy side.

Now he's a role model for young indigenous guys and apparantly puts a lot of time and effort into living up to that, and steering these young fellas in the right direction.

Well played DJ.

Always a huge fan of DJ - his work with CJ has been outstanding. Saw a Demons player line up for a photo with him after the game last week. Always congratulates his 'cousins' after every game. Witness Aaron Davey. Terrific sportsmanship.

Good to read Whitey will be going around for one more season next year.

I wouldn't be too sure on that one. We need these youngsters to come through some time. Anything can happen between now and the end of the year, but I can't see Whitey playing on next year. I'd like him too, but I can't see it happening.

White is only 30years old. He is having a great season. There is absolutely no reason why he can not continue and deliver the performances that he is giving us this year. In fact most of the so called senior players are delivering the goods at the moment.
It will be very difficult at the end of the season to make room for the draft. In my estimation we need minimum five spots on the list.
Two for the elevated rookies Pratt and Drummond (If we are to retain them) and the obligatory three spots for the draft.

Three retirements:
Lynch, Heart and McRea.

Personally I feel Heart and Lynch can go another season. Depends entirely on them.
McRea's performances have waned and I feel is a definite retiree.
Pikey also can boot up for another season.
It also depends on what happens this year? If we win a fourth premiership no one would want to go. They may have to be pushed and that is unpleasant for the fabric and morale of the club.
Also the salary cap issues come into consideration as well.

So, who will be delisted to make way for new blood?

It should be an interesting six months.
Maybe a sepperate thread to have a discussion on the list for next year?

DJ's entering the wonderful world of coaching.

Link.

Wily Mt Gravatt veteran Darryl White will expand his coaching horizons by guiding Darwin in the coming NTFL season.

White has played winter and summer for the last five years, since retiring from the AFL after a glittering career with the Brisbane Lions.

Darryl White - Inaugural Legend in the NT Football Hall of Fame.

Congrats DJ - well deserved. Thanks for the years of joy you gave us all who had the pleasure of watching you play. I was lucky enough to be at Carrara for your first game when you starred in the ruck against the Blues. Well done champ. Congrats also to Michael "Magic" McLean - another Bears Champ.

ESSENDON great Michael Long has added to his list of achievements by being named an inaugural legend in the Northern Territory hall of fame.

Long was inducted alongside AFL stars Maurice Rioli, Michael McLean and Darryl White, together with West Perth great Bill Dempsey and South Adelaide premiership player David Kantilla.

And DJ's still going strong - maybe we can re-draft him :cool::thumbsu:

DARRYL White took a deep breath when asked if he was tired after a sensational best-on-ground performance for Darwin Buffaloes on Friday night.

The 37-year-old booted six goals and gave away four in a 29-possession game that had statisticians and fans searching for superlatives.
