David Bourke A joke

Seeing David Bourke playing football on friday night made me think, how in the hell did this guy make Afl. What is your oppion.

He played quite well for the Kangaroos against the Crows last Friday. I think that you are a little harsh

At least Richmond is still paying a substantial part of his salary. One goal and not many possessions after that doesn't warrant staying in the side for me.

I must have been wathching another games then! Bourke would be a good matchup for either Ben Marsh or Daniel Schell!

Its a long long time ago but when he first came on the scene in 95 he was very promising , in the first half of the season he played a lot of good footy and would have been right up there in the rising star award. Unfortunately from that point on injuries and his bodys inability to stand up to afl footy took its toll. Also i have heard a few rumours over the years that he is not particulary dedicated and has never worked too hard on his game which as much as his slight frame has resulted in the player he is today.

I can see why the Richmond Fans dubbed him "Jesus". Everytime he went near the ball, it was a case of "Jesus Bourke"...

He did better than I expected, but fumbled a couple of times at crucial moments...

Oh don't get me wrong - he was much better than Bourke.
He had good endeavour and read the play well. Nickname perhaps not completely warranted, but funny given his medical background..

Liptak didn't play in either grand final side. Injuries screwed him up severely in 1997-1999 after winning the B&F in 1996 sadly.

I was honestly, genuinely hoping that Bourkey would do something worthwhile on Friday night, despite him now being an ex-Tiger. The guy deserves a break (and not of the skeletal variety!).

There's some ex-players that you very occasionally truly hope make something of themselves at their new club, especially when they've been dumped by your own club (albeit deservedly).

And he actually started pretty well ... kicked a nice long goal from a set shot, and dished one off for a nice assist. But just when the Roos were storming over the top of the Crows, and threatened to actually hit the front, out came Bourkey - a textbook lead, to recieve a beautiful pass (from Sinclair, I think) ... and down she goes !!! Ball hits terra firma, to be whisked away for a 12-point turnaround.

And that was basically it for the big fella ... confidence shot, hopes dashed, momentum lost ... and back to the Veefel for the rest of the season.
