Re: Rnd 9: Votes vs. North

To those who gave votes to D.Johnson, please note his opponent had 36 possessions on the day in a losing side.

He was given an absolute bath by Shannon Grant. There is no way known he could have even been considered for votes or in the best player's.

Suggest if you wish to give votes that you watch the the game closer and don't just guess.

Re: Rnd 9: Votes vs. North

I thought this board allowed PERSONAL OPINION! I'm not considering your two bobs worth at the moment, Cats56, so let people vote as they please!

Just trying to educate people how to give votes, to at least put some respect into the voting. Your not David Johnson are you?

Re: Rnd 9: Votes vs. North

Yes I am! What are you going to do?! I'm shattered by your harsh comments!
You may be trying to educate, but people have obviously seen some worth in my performance.

Didn't think there was a need to denigrate one player, in what was a superb team performance. After all, I wasn't the only one who played on Grant

Not denigrating, just pointing out facts.

Re: Rnd 9: Votes vs. North

Gee, really hit trizzles sore spot. It's amazing when you point out people's errors how offended they get.

Re: Rnd 9: Votes vs. North

You are most entitled to do so, Cats56. Just don't come running back to me and giving compliments when I comprehensively beat my opponent. That will continue this Saturday.
And, sore spot? Don't believe you affected me too much. You are most welcome to express what you like.

Re: Rnd 9: Votes vs. North

I actually thought that DJ once again, as he has already many times this year, played a very good game. I was shocked to hear that Grant had 36 dipsosals and I didn't really think that he had that big of an infulence on the game, where as DJ was continually rebounding the ball out of the D50.

I'm welcome to express what i like yet i won't be able to comment on DJ'S game on Saturday?

Hmm? Must be a strange little world you live in trizzles.

Re: Rnd 9: Votes vs. North

As I have stated numerous times, you are most welcome to express your opinion about DJ's performance. I have no influence on what you should say, even if I may disagree with what you put forward.
However, as Phat has said, if you feel strongly about this issue, start the thread! I think there could be substantial feedback and opinion given on the issue.

It was looking a bit that way. There is, however, no place for me in this thread. It is the other opinions that should be expressed, not mine.

Cats56, what does the 56 stand for? If its your date of birth get with the times old boy! I have heard your comments on Dave Johnson and Shannon Grant and you are probably basing your opinion by looking solely at the stats sheets. Infact, according by what you have said im guessing you didnt even see the game and just picked up the newspaper monday morning. If you want to go down that path then i'll let you know that almost 20% of Grants disposals were clangers whereas DJ DIDNT HAVE ANY! Also, grant as a goal kicking midfielder did not hurt dj on the scoreboard as they both scored 1 goal each. I might also add that of grants 20-odd effective disposals half of those were not on dj as he was off for a period of 15 minutes. That was the time when Grant started to rack up the possies.
Go have another look at your paper..and this time PUT YOUR GLASSES ON!

Don't worry i am with the times son and fortunately don't need glasses.

I obviuosly understand a lot more about the game than you do as even with the clangers Grant still had 30 disposals and doesn't take away from the fact he was able to get his hand on the pill 36 times. Also the fact that Grant had to spend time on the ball to try and get some drive would have negated his goalkicking chances. Why do you think DJ spent time on the bench, could it have possibly been that he was being beaten by his opponent?

If you think that giving votes to someone that was soundly beaten by their opponent then i fail to see that you have any understanding of the game whatsoever.

Here you go boys, you've got your own DJ thread now.
Phat , agree entirely that critiscm shouldn't be made on the votes board and i wouldn't have but you have allowed this in the past.

The immediate post prior diamond8 was critical of people voting for H but you have said nothing.

If you are going to make a rule please ensure it is for all and not just the one poster.

Re: Rnd 9: Votes vs. North

Feeling victimised?

It's not a rule, just the way the threads have been done in the past.
If it was a rule, i'd have done more than just split the thread.

And, i didn't consider diamond8's post to be nearly as provocative as your own, so there's no need to get all 'Fullarton Power' on us mate.

Grant getting 36 touches < Grant kicking 6 goals

DJ did his job

Re: Rnd 9: Votes vs. North

To anyone who thinks that this post is me slagging off DJ, it is not. It was merely pointing out that on the votes board diamond 8 was critical of H getting votes and then stating that DJ was more deserving. It just makes no sense when DJ was soundly beaten by his opponent while H beat his immediate opponent.

The way the ball was bought into the Roos forward line no-one could have kicked 6 goals, not even the great Wayne Carey.

Grant spent a lot of his time working his butt-off up the ground to try and lift his flagging team mates. DJ kicked his goal from the goalsquare because he followed Grant there who was busting his gut because a lot of his team-mates wern't.

36 touches (including 9 marks) in a team that has been belted to oblivian is a great effort. Anyone who thinks Grant wasn't the Roos best is living in La-La land.

I think what rizzo was hinting at was that Grant had little influence on the game.

We all know what a damaging midfielder he can be, and the subsequent utmost respect was paid to him by putting one of our best taggers on him to shut him out. The fact that he got 36 touches, 9 marks, and what have you is irrelevent if it bore no influence on the game.

With players like Grant it's more quality than quantity that counts (our own G.Ablett is a testimont to this). I think many believe that DJ did his job well in clogging Grant's influence on the game.

Was still the Roos best by a long way. He was the only Roos player who kept putting his hand up all day and what little influence the Kangaroos had came from Shannon Grant.

It all so doesn't defeat the fact that diamond8 said that DJ deserved votes (when he was beaten by his opponent) and that H didn't deserve votes (when he comprehensively beat his opponent) which was what this post was all about before it was moved.

If people believe DJ did a good job and deserved votes, then so be it.

You're by all means allowed to express your opinion (that H deserved votes and DJ didn't), so should they. I don't see what makes your view fact and others an uneducated comment.

Actually couldn't quite squeeze H in to the votes but i think i've made my point.
