Universal Love David Mackay Appreciation Thread

Currently leading our club for inside 50s and is 6th in the AFL for total inside 50s.

in the stats thread by Miss Vanessa, only 13% of his entries are getting turned into goals... equates to roughly 1 a game...

Aren't we nearly the most efficient for turning i50s into scores?

Does this mean without Mackay, we'd be posting stratospheric numbers???

Very happy with MacKay so far, I was a hater but he's played fairly well this year. Tackling like crazy and his intent is there which is good to see.
The reason why everyone here was on his back so much because he's got way too much talent to be a mediocre 13 disposal a game player.

If Mackay were in a highly rated list he'd have performed better because their inside players would have delivered to him. I do think he was asked to play roles under Sando that took away from his natural talents..... I think he *may* have got his mojo back..... Maybe!

Playing contested footy starved him of ball so he lost form. He's actually been pretty good receiving the ball on the wing and delivering it I50 this year. He should have been doing that in 2013 but we never out it out of the contest enough. That's my theory anyway.

Mackay's receiving the outside ball is no different .......Mackay, and i'll repeat this infinitum played a lot of good games, but was always judged on his possession count by the stats watchers .....they only remembered his quiet games which negated his good games which they said never existed

Posters have said Mackay simply cannot tackle ......well he's 3rd highest in tackle numbers at the Crows this year

His defensive role last year was a disaster waiting

Posters were wrong (yet again) that Mackay would never play an AFL game after the Hawthorn final last year

Posters were wrong that Mackay was a talent-less hack that only got AFL games because of the lack of options ....which we have now .....surprise, surprise, surprise, he's still playing .......Mackay has always been talented, but the current coach has got him in a role that suits him

I said pre-season Mackay was the direct one for one replacement for Dangerfield ....now in at centre bounces .......and so the sermon concludes

I enjoyed his interview on our Podcast and have softened somewhat in the fact that I know him better and he's a nice chap. Being good at Footballs matters most though. He has endeavour and is critically aware of his place. Most players that get to 150 are selection locks. He probably isn't from an external perception. Maybe different internally. Maybe he thrives living on that edge. It's pressure all the time in any case.
