21 years of age, biggest game of his career, has the best game of his career eclipsing the Brisbane game earlier in the year.

30 possessions and an amazing work-rate, he was phenomenal last night. You really had to be there to get an appreciation of how hard he worked. He was running up and down the wing all night, breaking free from the wings and making himself an option all night. Not only did win a lot of the footy but he had a couple of goal assists and his spoiling and smothering and blocking was all tremendous. It all comes back to work-rate though, he just never stopped running all night and gave us a link-man option in all 4 quarters.

You get the sense that he doesn’t realise how good he can be just yet. Wait until he develops his body, becomes a bit stronger as well as gets more confidence in himself. He was sensational last night; I was amazed at how well he stood up. He’s got the potential to be one of the truly damaging wingmen in the game. Runs all day and with his pace, vision and exceptional use of the ball he’s going to be an awesome player over many years for the AFC. Seeing his reaction in the rooms after the game was hard to watch, he put it all out there and had the best game of his career. Pick 48, what an absolute bargain. Well done D-Mac, you’re a superstar in the making and last night was only the beginning. :thumbsu: Can't wait to see him in 2010.

Mackay was superb!

In fact, it was a terrific night for our younger players. Dangerfield, Mackay, Otten and Tippett all enhanced their growing reputations.

For me, it was our experienced players that let us down. Some hard decisions need to be made, because these are the same guys that continue to let us down in finals.

I have been arguing with a Port supporting mate for a while that Mackay will be better than Boak, he has been talking crap for ages in Boak's defence, got a sms last night, I think he has seen the light.

D-Mac looks like the penny has dropped, he knows he can take this game apart now and I expect him to make huge strides next year.

Absolute gun. Not only does he run hard but he uses it so, so well all the time. Will be a great player. He also runs the other way as well which is important- he also does the team things and runs back to help out in defense. GUN.

Is it possible to get over 100% disposal efficiency because seriously if it is then this bloke will do it. Doesn't make mistakes. Has fast stolen the mantle of the most underrated midfielder in the competition. I can't believe other clubs don't rate him more highly than they do.

Love him

He has to be one of the cleanest one touch players in the league. I have not seen him fumble the ball for a long time. Its why he seems to have so much time and space, he simply does not fumble. Picks up handballs at his knees as if they were hitting him on the chest. Amazing talent and will be classy classy player for years to come.

The clean pickups from he and Danger were gold last night. Both will be cornerstones of a premiership side in time.

I was AMAZED by his performance last night. Being at the game, you wouldn't believe how much he ran last night to consistently provide an option. That smother in the last quarter topped it off for me.

I'm predicting that next year will be his breakout year, similar to how Bernie took the next step this season. He has the potential to become a very, very good midfielder, because not only does he read the play well - he's also incredibly damaging. Almost all of his possessions go to advantage and the amount of run and forward penetration that he offers will be a huge threat to the opposition.

The combo of Dangerfield, Mackay and Vince in the midfield is a scary one. Chuck in Sloane too who will be an absolute beauty.

Been a huge fan of this bloke since day 1, thank god he got over those hammy problems and is now an outstanding talent who isnt given enough credit by the media. His disposal and clean pick ups are class

If this kid didn't miss a few games with a hammy he would have been top 3 in the B&F.

Injury permitting he is AA next year IMHO!

Which would give us two AA-level midfielders in he and Vince. One more needed - Dangerfield. Sloane is a smokey. But we have the nucleus there to win a premiership with.

"Most likely player on the Crows list to win a Brownlow" - KF 8/2008*

*Statement made prior to Dangerfield learning how to kick, but I'll stick by it.

good thread.
in the second quarter in the forward 50- 3 coll players in front, accelerated dodged and snapped a point, but i just loved that bit of play, next year he will snaffle that. d mac + 5 kgs and 1 more pre season = time to join top flight mids. To go with vince and thommo and my next fav Danger we are finals contenders for years to come. We will only get better!!!!!!!!

I clearly remember two spoils he made that came straight from the AFL Book Of Perfect Techniques. Pick 48? Unbelievable.

Exactly right. The pies player jumped and had his arms stretched straight up, 9/10 midfielders would of given away a free kick, it would of been so easy to do but he managed to get up there and only hit the ball away.

So good defensively but in a lot of matches this year he not only had a lot of touches, hes been able to really have a massive influence on the game, and not always when things are going our way. Absolute superstar

Agree entirely.

He was very good in last years finals loss, and again this year. When we do make the Grand Final I'll be putting a couple of dollars on him for the Norm Smith.

I don't get to see a whole lot of Adelaide being in Victoria, but this player was the standout from last night IMO. His work rate was incredible and his disposal and decision making very, very tidy. You've got some serious talent with Mackay, Vince and Knights.

I must admit, Vince is becoming one of my favourite players in the competition.

Space and time, its funny how good footballers always have plenty of it. Just needs to add a few more kg's. The talent is definitely there though.
