It's hard to gauge whether Teague is doing a great job, or whether Bolton was simply doing a poor one.
Maybe a bit of both, but just how much value to apportion to both scenarios? Too hard to say and only guesswork, can come into play.

Results though - Players clearly love him - Public clearly loves him - The panel? Wait and see,.

The panel? The one that appointed Bolts, that now think Bolts isnt good enough. DT has SHOWN that he has got what it takes, all other scenarios bar Clarkson is speculation

As good as Teague has been, coaches aren’t made by what they do when things are going well, but how they respond when things arent.

In some ways, I’d almost like to see us get a drubbing from WC or Richmond, just to see how Teague handles it.

Plus there’s so much more to coaching that we are yet to see

Of course, it’s been a fantastic start and Teague has shown himself to be an outstanding tactician and match day and a good player manager if nothing else.

That in itself should be enough for us to have a crack for 2 years rather than Brad Scott or Ross Lyon imo
:D
So let's see,
You want us to get smashed by Eagles
And maybe if Teague doesn't dissolve, then maybe he might be better
Than Scott or Lyon?
And even if he is,he only gets 2 years.
Is that right?

Teague demolished Adelaide yesterday playing DeLuca/Kennedy/Gibbons/Phillips/Casboult/Lang in the side - let that sink in.

Without 2 of our best defenders- Marchbank and Docherty
Without 2 of our best forwards- Charlie and Mitch
Without our best ruckman
Take those key players out of any side and they struggle

Teague with Richardson alongside him. Richo is a very good assistant

Richo would be a great get. He was offered a senior coaching role because of how good he was as an assistant. He should be available, as I cant see anyone handing him a senior coaching gig at the moment. Can we move on him before the end of season?

Players like Lang have come in and done a job

Lang was heading for a delist under Bolts, suddenly he is a chance to be retained. A coach who can get the best out of our fringe players is worth gold. it enables you to gain value from these players either as depth or, on the trade table

Our leaders have stayed with the club because they want to build something. They want to be apart of something from the ground up and fight and scrap and do it together with their mates from the beginning. I don’t think pulling in an unfamiliar coach is consistent with this desire and narrative. Teague ticks the coaching boxes, the tipping point is that his influence and origins with the players is authentic.

I 100% agree with this.

eague's mantra of players just doing their role/getting their job done and bringing their strengths

But it also takes some strategic thinking to be able to use those strengths and weave it into your game day planning. The players strengths have always been there under Bolton, its just that he didnt have a clue how to adjust to the new skill sets available when new players came in. It seems to me that cripps was also playing a role since the Lions win when we played the Dogs, Swans, and suns, allowing Murph; Ed, Walsh, Setterfield, Gibbons to fill in the gap. That gave those 5 players enormous confidence without being support roles to the Cripps machine. Then when the big dog came roaring back against the crows we had a full complement of players ready to go with him and join in on the spoils.

Really dont 'see' where the Clarkson speculation is coming from tbh. Clarkson has given an undertaking to all his players and staff that he will be at Hawthorn...

Can't see Clarkson doing it for any money...and I dont for a second believe he needs the money anyway...

Apologies if its already been discussed, but is Walls still hanging around in the background? Haven't heard anything about him since Teaguey took over.

Yes. We. Can. Dudes been sacked and we can take him if we want.

To be fair, only 2 of the 5 panel members who chose Bolton are on the current panel. And it’s not unfair to have a different assessment of a coach 3 and a half years later.

Fat prick Hutchy on FC pushing the Hinkley to Carlton barrow.
Judd saying nothing.
FFS my blood is boiling.
Completely irrational comment coming up.....
If the club appoints, Hinkley, Voss, Scott, Lyon or any other ****en muppet over Teague....i’m Done.
Never to be seen on these boards again, and I will Microwave my membership, and write a really nasty letter.😡😡😡

BROTHER don’t stress. There is no way in hell (barring an absolute disaster in the next 4 weeks) that anyone other than Clarke gets it over Teague. UNLESS the boards looking to get full on 1800’s lynched. Remember this ain’t Adelaide our members get a vote and our board ain’t that stopped.....to this point.

Wish I had your faith.
BTW add Clarko to my list.
He’d only come to us for the money, nothing else.
Don’t want the prick under any circumstance

I’m running on pure....I know what I’ll do if Teaguey goes well and they appoint a flog like Scott or Voss. Could you imagine the fall out?? They’re too worried about their positions on the board to not give the members what they want (unless something drastic occurs)

This. And i'm glad that us members and fans can influence the decision.

If the board appoint Teague and he ends up failing, the majority will be forgiving as he was the one we all wanted at the time and evidence suggested he was the right choice when hired. The pressure index stays relatively low on Judd & Co.

If they appointed pretty much anyone else, especially someone like Lyon/Voss/Hinkley/Scott and they fail, all hell will break loose and we'd all be demanding all of them get sacked.

There will be all this speculation as it's a hot discussion point in the industry and the club is rightly saying nothing...but i'm sure the committee are seeing what we're seeing and more since they're in the inner sanctum...they know the fans want Teague, the players want Teague, other industry figures are now saying we should hire Teague etc

Teague has to be in the box seat.

"He's completely transformed the way they play, not in a pre-season but in essentially a week. It's been an astronomical effort. He's had 12 years experience as a coach, he knows what he wants. He's had a huge impact, couldn't have done more."

Reckon that's a pretty outstanding assessment from Judd. By far the most positive public comments that anyone in the club hierarchy has made about Teague to date.

F therest, you have summed up the 2 'ifs' perfectly :thumbsu:

Also mentioned that he's opened up the ground and that we're scoring freely.

Important because Liddle publicly said we want a coach who will play a game style that suits our list, which is more offensive and utilising the talents of our midfield and forwards.

Basically Jon Ralph's article in the Herald Sun today summed it up pretty well really...Teague is delivering not jut wins, but doing it with a game style we wanted to see. Relationship building is the other thing Liddle mentioned and it's been documented Teague has been good in this area with players and staff at the club.

By the end of the season Teague will have cemented the job.

For whatever reason that I cannot fully explain at the moment I think we will give an excellent showing against wet toast. A win, however implausible will create a revolution if Teague isn’t signed by the following week.
