He certainly has to be under pressure now.. or receive a serious talking to. If we lose to Essendon next week, he is gone I reckon. Dogs and Melbourne after that will absolutely batter us

He's losing his fan base at a rate of knots. Needs to bold at match committee for a start.
Needs to be honest, because if he believes what he's been saying after previous losses then he's ****ed. Needs to get out there and say 'we know it's not good enough. We will make changes'. That sort of thing. I've seen all of beveridge, Clarkson, Scott, Hardwick and Longmuir tear strips off their players in pressers and I've also seen all of them admit when they were outcoached/ out systemed. Teagues messaging is a form of lying to himself and therefore his players about near enough is good enough 'because we're learning'.

This is even more idiotic, Sos got lambasted for doing a thorough and extremely slow rebuild, without shortcuts.

Oh yeah? How many list cloggers did SOS bring in to the club via GWS at the expense of quality draft picks/selections? And the LOB and Stocker picks alas look being busts (Dow is borderline)

We need to start over and reset the list (no matter if Teague is coaching or not)

LOB and Stocker look like being busts? Thats insane and reactionary. Go cool off. Stocker dominated the Vfl last week and was ok this week. Lob is still being de-Bolton'd. Our development has been diabolical and our game day structure ufnavourable for these flanker and wing type players up until today, it looked a bit better.

The GWS comment is just idiot main board shit. You've been around here a long time you have surely read all the reasons why we made those trades. Whether they worked or not is a case by case situation but the strategy was sound and clear. Resetting this list - i.e. another rebuild - is the dumbest thing I've read on this site this year, comfortably.

It's so painfully obvious there's a disconnect with the coaching, systems and effort on a weekly basis. Fix those and we beat Port and Brisbane easily. It's actually a testament to the talent on our list that we can be remotely competitive carrying injured players like Levi and a game plan that is just not going to work.

He's not really good at this whole PR/engaging the fan base thing. The supporters don't want blood in a press conference, we just want to see some honesty and evidence of footballing insight, an inkling that our club is in decent hands. Something moderately intelligent/tactful.

Instead, it is the same shit over and over. Sell yourself, mate, how the **** did he win people over in an interview setting?

All reports are that he didn't win over anyone in the interviews and it was the players that forced the choice.

Players would of had a big impact on him being hired, Judd's training wheels comment etc.

We need Neil Balme as footy boss.

Brad Lloyd is as incompetent as Teague.

Balme is on a reduced role at Richmond. We need him to come in an do what he did to the Cats and Tigers!
I don’t think anyone would come to us to be honest. The club is a mess

i dont think too many applied for the coaching position when we were hiring after malthouse. barker, bolts and maybe one other.
this was also the case when we were hiring to replace bolts. maybe just voss.
What I’d give for Voss right now, hell I’d even take Brad Scott

His interview today on radio was so ho hum. From what he didn't say gave the impression that there's a fair bit of anxst behind the scenes.

The supporter base wants a generational coach and we all would rather him succeed but it is healthier to confront the issue that he is not a good coach.

Answer this one question: What aspect of coaching is Teague good at: eg motivation, tactics, development, selection.?

The answer to the question is painful so move on quickly.

Conspiracy time.

The players have decided Teague isn't the one after all, and are no longer playing for him.

I can't think of another explanation for our rapid regression. Granted, I'm a moron, so that could be why I can't think of another explanation.

Throw Russell in as well ... what value add has he brought since coming across ? ...

I continue to have faith in the abilities of our kids. Our development has been sh1thouse. We should not clean out the list, again. The seconds domination of a team which had been unbeaten for over a season strongly suggests our second tier development has turned the corner. O’Keefe, Power and the rest of the development team are on the right track, finally.

Teaguey and his team of coaches at the elite level have little or no system. As alluded to by another poster,we are mirroring the ill fated Ratten era. Just rely on the top core of players to get it done on ability alone. DT has an ultra simplistic and an untenable approach. “Bring your strengths”. Today’s footy is far more structured and technical than a decade or two ago. I was a supporter when he released the shackles from the Bolton tenure, however the structure worked on by Bolts was somewhat ingrained and served us well in combination with Teagueys return to the old blokes.

I was alarmed when he alluded to players developing the game plan pre season.I am now ultra alarmed. I have been a McGovern critic, while I didn’t think we needed him and we overpaid, he has not matured or developed despite being in his “golden years”. I have been blaming him, yet our three gun recruits are to different degrees languishing under our “system”.
What ******* chance do the kids have?

No issue, they can’t all play in the midfield, BUT, Stocker is a play maker. No problem playing him in defence. Had a blinder rebounding and setting up play in the twos. 70 odd percent game in a lock down deep defensive role is setting him up to fail. Does this add credence to the theory Teague does not like the boy? SOS was right, Eddie is cooked. The bloke will continue to do a few OK things and compete as best his old body can. His skills are declining. He does at least offer mentorship and hopefully is playing a significant part in developing generation next. Play him with Durdin, Honey and co. In the twos. Fast track them....please.

Murphy is a bloody conundrum. Still good enough to warrant a game if we believe we can carry a downhill skiie. Murph represents what must be eradicated from our game. Conditional and selective effort just cannot be tolerated from a leader. Most older players through history who lose half a yard of pace and carry some niggles become harder, not softer. They put the body on the line to offset the declining athleticism, or they move on. No blame for Levi, never been a smart player, virtually on one leg and probably hardly training to present for the perceived benefit of the team. Bloke is all heart and tries, but we must again move on.

When ready, the kids must play, and at least get cameos in their prime positions, not be shoehorns in to foreign roles and forced to boo or bust. Some of our kids have not been self starters, and that is on them, but a good organisation embraces and nurtures any and all character types and finds a niche for them if they have talent. We have a dearth of tall sand have been convinced BSOS didn’t want it, gee I hope that was true.

I hereby withdraw my support of David Teague as senior coach, but hell, we need a bold authoritarian to turn this “culture” around. Is it a Voss? Leppitsch? Considered the Lyon, worsfold mould, but nup would be counter productive along the Malthouse lines. Who has some names to offer?

Sorry Teaguey, nice bloke doesn’t cut it. If he assistants are a problem, it is on you to take control. You have had the chances and I am thinking that you continuing will ruin some highly viable careers.

Our list is sh*t, too many selfish and ego centric players at the club.

Quite frankly I an starting to believe losing Cripps and cashing in our compo pick, and retaining Teague is the best way fowards for our club.

We are miles off a flag. Miles off it. We took shortcuts with our rebuild under SOS and are now paying the price.

Stick with Teague, lose Cripps and rebuild via the draft is the best course of action for this footy club.

I’ve been trying to avoid similar thoughts because it’s scary to admit it but you’re unfortunately dead right. SOS completely ****ed up our recruitment. This list simply isn’t good enough. We’re closer to another rebuild than we are a premiership.

He did well in the first round of 2015 with Weits, McKay and Curnow.

Other than that he has not built a good list.

Also that trade period where he was supposed to secure Papley but didn’t was an embarrassment

how would you have secured papley ? serious question not having a go

Either our list is shithouse or our coach is or perhaps it's injuries and we just haven't got there yet.

Well it's a little of all of the above.

We have a shithouse injury list.

Carroll is a player who would/should be playing senior football. Charlie Curnow is a big part of our best 22. DeKoning should be a part of our best 22. Fisher is easily a part of our best 22. Kemp would be a part of our best 22. Marchbank is a part of our best 22. McDonald was and probably is better than Casboult. Without Marchbank Parks is important to our side. Silvagni is best 22. Newman is probably best 22. It's a shocking list.

Our coach is ok but he's failing us with player development and some aspects of our game.

He selects young players, plays them in foreign roles or roles that don't bring them into the game. His ability to bring a young player into the team and inspire confidence and constructive play is garbage. I believe he can half coach but there's aspects missing. The defensive aspects of our team aren't up to it.

Our drafting.

Well it could probably be better however it's not bad. Our talls are excellent. Our smaller players are a bit suspect but is it development or are they just no good? Is something missing there? I'm not quite willing to write of our drafting just yet. I believe our coach doesn't test our young players enough and give them enough opportunity.

There will be a bit of a list tune up, there will be a bit of a coaching tune up. There are definitely problems there all over the field with Carlton.

- Our coaching is failing to develop and utilise young and inexperienced players.

- Our onfield leadership lacks the ability to change our tactics and bring young players into the game.

- Our drafting has been ok however there are holes and we have moved on here.

- Our injury list is terrible, this needs looking into, players coming off long injury layoffs return only to get injured, this has become too common, club physio is probably out the door I suspect.

- No reserves football last year and being in a hub was extremely destructive to us.

Typical Carlton comment, nothing wrong with Teague as coach, you don't just keep throwing coaches out every 18 months, look at Goodwin, apparently he was on his last legs at Melbourne at the start of the year, now they are flag favs.

Problem players are
Cripps, body looks absolutely cooked after doing all that heavy work in the midfield, kicking now lacks penetration, looks slow, I'd be open to trades from wa teams
Docherty too many mistakes, shadow of the player after knee injuries.
Plowman as a defender your main job is to defend, yet he constantly has goals kicked on him too easy, looks like a dear in headlights each time he's in a one on one.
SPP looks a player, where every 6th game he shows something brilliant, but he picks and chooses too often in his effort, trade to wa with Cripps
Murphy needs to retire he's not a high half forward

Stocker, dow and O'Brien have to play every game for the rest of the year, they need confidence to know their spots not in jeopardy.
Team for the rest of the year should be
B Saad westering Jones
HB Williamson McGovern stocker
W O'Brien Williams Cottrell
Hf Martin Cripps Gibbons
F Betts McKay Fogarty
Foll dekoning Curnow Walsh (C)
Inter dow, pittonet, silvagni, Fisher
EMG Cunningham, Philp, casbault

Charlie Curnow will never play again, see what you can trade him for.
Play Cripps fwd to keep trade value
kennedy, settlefield, Newnes all the same type, only need 1 on your list
