Yes I hate to admit it but I was totally wrong with Teague thinking he was going to have a no-sh*t attitude and steely determination. Barely shows any emotion gameday, no reaction to poor play, no sprays when needed. Cool and calm is one thing, but “it’s only a game” attitude isn’t going to win a flag.

The Clarko attitude is what’s missing unfortunately, and it seems the nice nurturing familyman atmosphere is not what wins flags. Clarko, Dimma, Hinkley, Scott, all seem to have that hardman, yet bleed with the boys attitude.

Unfortunately, Teague doesn't seem to have the mongrel or tactics to take us much further. And to think I shunned Vossy in favour of him. Beginning to think Vossy might have done better.

My only concern with Clarko is wether he will still have the fire in the belly to coach another club. Might end in a lot more tears like Malthouse.
I understand that the world has changed and continues to do so but you're right the club is simply soft . Blokes holding their kids while they sing the song and the way they sing the song even is pathetic , a few years ago we got to go into Melbourne Storm rooms after a win and mate watch that shit on YouTube it gives you goosebumps , that club has REAL CULTURE and I'm genuinely embarrassed to be a Carlton supporter .

When things aren't going well - there are always a million reasons to chuck the baby out with the bathwater - and they all sound good and logical and based on had facts of W/L - we've all been there and done that for 20 years now. Stick phat and work on improving each day is the way an organisation grinds its way out of middling muck and into some form of clear air.

No time or interest in negative manifestos and can't be bothered getting too invested in responding to nuffies ideas anymore either.

I do believe Teaguey needs credible assistance in putting together a sustainable each way game plan and structure to go with it - the coaches as a team need to smarten up. I also beleive that on-field leadership and behaviours from senior players has to be addressed as part of the game plan and fix.

This finals or bust mentality has been a silly encumbrance and the scripting that Teague has been given to speak to has seen its use-by date.

Time to get hands dirty - make a few hard decisions and accept the cost of retooling for better outcomes.

If this isn’t enough evidence that the club admin and footy department aren’t aligned, I don’t know what is.
The board now must answer the question of why Lloyd and Liddle are still in charge? What a mess!
I'd say it was more Teague playing dumb originally and marketing/admin/advisor butting in now asking Teague to be more open/honest as his popularity vote is dropping.

Someone should tell Liddle that the best way to increase memberships is to actually win games of footy. Invest more in the coaching/recruitment, pay the tax for a few years if need be by going over the cap as that's a far better investment at the moment. Once we start winning and show promise the members will come without needing to boost the membership drivel.

You really believe that the club and its employees don't believe that winning more games will result in more members?

O.k.you tell him then.

Totally understand where you are coming from Kramer...
But, on the other side of the coin if we keep going with the wrong coach, it will just waste years out of this super talented group..

At the end of the day the coach is evaluated on wins, something all these mentioned coaches didn't do much of..

It will be such a tough decision, that hopefully by the end of the year the right choice will be a lot clearer...
It's also difficult to win the lottery if you don't buy a ticket. A supposedly far reaching selection committee came to the conclusion that Teague was the man 25 or so games ago. What has changed? We've had the tumult of last year, and now we're battling with a squad ravaged by injury. I'd also add that I think the comp is historically good...there are probably 15 teams that could have reasonable designs on a spot in the 8.

Ratts had a perfectly healthy win percentage, Teague had a similarly respectable win percentage until very recent weeks. Talk of moving Teague on is so ridiculous at this point in time it's really not worth the discussion.

Get this Facebook trash out of here.

Still photos of a single facial expression tell you absolutely nothing.

I'd also ask WTF his facial expression/body language (as seen) has to do with anything? If we could perform a limited re-write of history where all of our 2021 results were identical but there was a bit of footage in every game of Teague screaming or smashing a phone, would people pushing the "show some emotion Teague" wagon actually feel better? Cos that's how it reads on every post like this.

Now, I will absolutely allow that a serene visage might reflect an approach to coaching that is content to not change too much despite the damage this may be causing, and/or a belief in a squad to just come good without actually pulling any levers to help that come to fruition, but I really don't think this is what people here are saying.

What we see in the box is so far down the list in importance compared to what he's actually communicating to the players - that would be somewhat interesting...

It's opinion mate...just like ar#$holes...everyone has one. And that's mine.
probably fortuitous both of yours are so closely aligned...........

Definitely not a finals or bust kind of guy, but if we by chance go backwards this year, after adding Saad, Williams, Fog and a batch of draftees, I would consider that a very very bad reflection on Teague as a coach and his ability going forward.

I don’t see injuries as an excuse, we didn’t have Curnow, Marchbank, Kemp, Newman or SOS last season, the injury list is largely the same.

The assistants are largely the same too, time will tell but I’m worried with our game plan, let alone our execution.

What will it take to get John Barker out of this club? For heaven's sake. Now the assistant of stoppages, which absolutely sucks. Every line he has ever been in charge of always stinks.

Current coaching team:

- David Teague (I would keep)
- John Barker (absolutely must go)
- Cameron Bruce (I dunno)
- Dale Amos (keep)
- Brent Stanton (out the door)
- Luke Power (keep)

A legitimate senior assistant is sorely needed. See Sydney with Don Pyke and Melbourne with Choco Williams.

Don't need to throw the baby out with the bathwater, but a shake up is needed.

I know I said I was finished with this but one final post. You, obviously, accept the bolded as true and I've already pointed out two games that were defeats and not 5 goal runs against or even five goal momentum swings. Just want to point out 2 even more glaring examples that make it onto the list you're so happy to accept as legitimate.

Round 2, 2020 vs Melbourne. Stat says there was a 56 point swing. Melbourne won that game 54-53.
Round 16, 2020 vs Sydney. Stat says a 38 point swing. We won that game 57-52.

Be happy if someone could point out to me how in hell we could have swings of the magnitude stated in games with that scoreline.

So you tell me why I should blindly believe a list that tells me we have 23 out of 36 five goal+ turnarounds given just those examples.

As I said before the turnarounds we've had against us in the past have been alarming but a five goal turnaround has happened just once this year. That, to me shows an improvement.

Edit: I agree, when I first read that 23 out of 36 post I was alarmed, trouble is that, after just a quick review, it is just not right.
No one said all the turnarounds resulted in losses, just that they occurred us alarming. And it hasn't been rectified. We aren't smart, skilled or fast enough to arrest momentum, let alone turn it around. Keep shouting into the breeze!

People think that if Teague doesn't throw things around the coach's box or give his players a dressing down on live TV then that somehow means he's 'too nice'. It's bad enough that we have to put up with temper tantrums here, at least that's somewhat to be expected on a fan forum. But it seems like some people won't be satisfied unless Teague channels their rage and throws a public tantrum in front of the cameras. He's a coach, for crying out loud, not an avatar of your personal emotions.

Question his methods, OK, that's fair game, but this 'too nice' narrative is just silly. Are we forgetting the other week's broken table behind closed doors already?

I’ve said repeatedly i feel that the development of our kids is being severely compromised by his coaching and management.

I also don’t think he has the hard edge that’s required to get the job done and drive standards.

We have a talented list but (in my opinion) it is going to go to waste if something isn’t done soon.

I want Teague gone.

Do we have a list capable of winning a flag?

I would Say no if I am to be honest, and replacing Teague is not going to solve any of our on going injury and young player development issues.

“The club opted to remain with the same assistants for another season at the request of Teague”

So he has the coaching group he wanted ...

If he can’t make finals I’m guessing injured players are the only excuse left?
