There was a cap amnesty on sackings last year. We could have made changes if we wanted to.
I didn't know about that, but we might not have had the money in the first place.

Our CEO wants all the power in football.
Give me a bloke that has won 4 flags and had a team in the finals for 15 years. I’d know who the majority of people would take. Our football department is clueless!

controversial...but I like it. Just win. go fast and kick it down the gutses.Teague is Blighty with his we will win by kicking more goals strategy.

Remember when it was down to a choice between Teague and Ratts? We know Ratts can coach, but they're not going much better than us.
I think eventually we'll figure out it's not the coach as such. It's something else. Assistants, game theory, whatever.
Just on coaches - Blight is on SEN now. LOVE HIM. He is so right on so many levels.
A lot of what he says is very out dated. Was going on today how you shouldn't have multiple player tackling the player with the ball. All good for 40 years ago but in 2021 you can throw it or go 720 degrees before disposing of the ball, so you often need multiple player to lock it in. Game has changed so much since he played.Just on coaches - Blight is on SEN now. LOVE HIM. He is so right on so many levels.
St Kilda reckon he enjoyed a game of golf on many levels.
Clarko won flags and tried to win a few more before they needed to do a total rebuild. If he came and had the same dynasty they’ve had, I’d be okay with him trying to sneak another for a couple yearsIt's well-known Clarko holds a silly amount of power at that club. He has a strong say in all their list decisions, I think it's naive to assume he didn't have anything to do with the direction they're heading in.
He didn't intend to 'rebuild'. he's kept his older brigade. Shaun Burgoyne is still playing and he's like, 40. Arguably the greatest coach of all time but he's made a mess of that list.
Meh, Mick Malthouse had that knowledge, Neil Craig too, then Andrew Russell, now Clarko.
There's plenty out there who know what it takes, very few who can implement it at a brand new club and environment.
Bringing across Clarko as head coach would just be Mick 2.0 imo.
Teague simply put the older players back into the prominent positions, which proves nothing. How has it worked out for the development of the kids Bolton was getting games into for the future since Teague took over? If we'd stuck with Bolton, then just maybe, we'd by now have a group of good kids who have learnt the important defensive aspects of how to play, they'd have a good number of games under their belt and we could be adding the offence now, which should always be the last piece of the puzzle. We'd also have a coach with the 'fire in the belly' that so many on here are now calling out for.
Does a plasterer form part of the football dept cap?Couldn't care less why he does it if he does it well. Also the next coach will fail again if the right support structures aren't introduced. The name doesn't matter at all.
What Clarkson will bring is knowledge on how a football department should run and the minimum standards. That's what I want from a coach. Don't care who it is. Ruthlessness and minimum standards on performance and accountability getting enforced.
Carlton at the moment has neither.

The CEO and some board members are protecting their decision of the Teague appointment. If Teague was available right now not one team would consider him as a senior coach other than CFC. The CEO and board are doing everything to protect their poor decision. Ron Barassi will be thrown up next to mentor Teague! How and why are you comparing Liddle and Clarkson?
One is a CEO and the other is head coach. Should we get rid of Liddle and replace with Clarko? Or get rid of Teague and replace with Liddle?

You are so right in lumping Teague in with the rest of those coaches. There is one significant difference and that is when the CEO sacked Bolton it was about win loss. We were expected to play finals last year and this year the club comes out publicly and says we will play finals. I think Teague has proven him to be a failure and the board know it and that’s why we see a ban aid solution with Worsfold. You could say that about a whole lot of coaches in any given year.
Would any other club want Matthew Nicks? Ben Rutten? Stuart Dew? David Noble? Doesn't mean they're all duds, it only means they've been given a shot and haven't yet proved themselves one way or another. Same goes for Teague.
Don't agree with that statement...
Clarkson may not be the answer, but Malthouse was such a sh*t decision..
Malthouse couldn't care less about Carlton, it was all about him and getting to his games record...
He bastardized his legacy and standing in the game for that record...
Really wouldn't surprise me if him and Eddie McChins orchestrated it to F@#k with Carlton
Nup, plenty of us knew it was a mistake up front. The power brokers running the club should have been insightful and intelligent enough to read the room.In hindsight it was a sh*t decision.
At the time? We had just got one of the best coaches of all time coming off a flag and Grand Final 18 months earlier. We made excuses for his book tour and other rubbish shenanigans. Realistically we didn't learn his intentions until after 2014 or so.

AmnestyGood chance we didnt have the budget to payout contracts and bring in new people
Carry debt over for an extra year.I didn't know about that, but we might not have had the money in the first place.
